God I thought I was the only one who fucking can't stand that voice. Whenever I complain about it everyone else is just so nonchalant.

Go ahead and say it literally. The middle syllable is still barely noticeable when said quickly.

That's probably why it got dropped.

You just reminded me of my highschool AP bio teacher who was a new Englander, but lived and worked in the UK for a few years. He pronounced half like "hawf" and it was always jarring because otherwise his accent was mostly normal.

I honestly don't think the active duty and national guard units would be willing to fight each other. A lot of guard guys are former AD and AD gets supplemented by guard all the time. Some missions they even work side by side with active guard positions.

The states leveraging their guard units like this strikes me as highly presumptuous.
