  • I'm vegan* and I'd do it for 1000€, if that money came out of the pocket of a meat producer. Just numbers-wise, that would probably already be a net-benefit, and I don't really regard my own conscience highly enough to make it sway that price all that much.

Cranial dislocation and instantaneous crushing of the head are some of the most pain-free deaths too, much better than the CO² gassing which would be the default for a bunny this size.

What always fascinates me about dilemmas like this is the cuteness of the animal is such a big factor for people. Would the average answer be the same if it was rat, a fish, a chick or a tiny baby kangaroo? I think it's a nice mental exercise to think about it! My school had a Philosophy class for all the students who didn't go to Religion class, and we basically just solved dilemmas like this all day. It was really beneficial for building your own moral framework and getting comfortable in navigating it.

(* with the relevant exception that I have a snake, so my freezer is full of dead rodents that I'm thoroughly desensitized to)

  • We'd get along fine, but feeding two people on one salary will definitely be annoying (my job has a non-competition clause where I can't pick up a second job in the same field), and getting enough adhd meds for the both of us will be impossible due to strict regulations here.

One of us still could bring value to the household by being the designated bangmaid though

  • Oh hey we're in the exact same boat! My parents are from Russia too and moved to Germany about 20 years ago. If the bureaucracy here wasn't that slow, they would have had citizenship by now and 100% both voted AfD.

We never had a decent relationship and I'm not concerned about preserving anything, so the goal is to just fully cut all contact at some point 🤷
Until then, I just act ignorant whenever they bring up politics (like literally pretending to not know who Trump is, because "what, why would I pay attention to niche american politics, they're literally an ocean away??").
Works pretty well, sometimes it even does make them retrospect about why they would care so much about seemingly random topics (because Russian propaganda channels train them to react to specific buzzwords).
Ultimately, I don't think they would ever change into better people and any energy put into changing their minds would be better used somewhere else.

  • I've recently caught up on About Oliver's second season of Minecraft streams. He's an astrophysicist who never played Minecraft before 2022 and documented his entire blind playthrough. No reading chat, no googling etc. He only knew that he could get to credits somehow, but didn't even know how.

I highly recommend the entire playthrough, but there is a 6 hour Compilation of season 1 if you want to catch up to current day. Season 2 is about 40 episodes in, with about 4-5h per episode.

  • Colloquially, the word "robot" always implies a certain amount of anthropomorphism. So no, I don't think a vibrator would count, as basically no vibrators on the market try to look human-like.

But that definitely is a weird difference between male and female sexuality - the sex toys women buy most are the very effective and utilitarian ones: Vibrator wands, Rabbits, Air pulse Vibrators etc.

While the most popular tools for men tend to focus on "realism"(?): Fleshlights, Sex Dolls, things like VR and POV porn. And I guess sex robots would fall into that category too in the future.

I can absolutely see the weirdness-factor of someone who is desperately trying to emulate a partner rather than just accept masturbation as a solo activity and optimize it from there 😬

  • I always refill my snake's water dish with cold (so like 10°C) water, just so that she has the option to drink it cold if she wants to, or wait for it to get to room temperature.

Usually, she just goes up to the fresh water, tongue flicks on the surface, then ignores it for several hours. No idea if that means that she doesn't like it cold. She could just be not thirsty at all but intrigued by the dish moving back into her space (I always change it while she's looking, so that she knows what's going on and isn't startled by me moving it in or out).

  • Even better, imagine being a 35-year old streamer with a kid, and other parents at the preschool ask you about your job.

(Spoiler: some really good anecdotes come from that, see Northernlion)

  • With my partner, we usually gift time/knowledge. As in, one person wants to buy something but doesn't have the time/expertise to read up it and find the perfect thing. So the other hops in and does the research for them.

This valentine's my partner helped me decide on a new gaming keyboard, while I got him a custom web domain and email setup.

So maybe if there's a thing you've been meaning to research/buy, let your partner do it as a gift?
