cooking. people are regularly impressed, ive got stiff competition with most indian and even high-end italian restaurants. still working on chinese, korean, and mexican :)
im in my early 20s and a year out of college in my first long term full time job. im starting to get what you feel already. I think as an adult as you grow and develop into your own personality it becomes harder to make friends you really connect with sometimes. why dont you try taking a class for a hobby youve always wanted to try or regularly volunteering somewhere? or even try becoming a regular at a bar or coffee shop you like. if people see you enough, you'll automatically become friendly to them. ive yet to have the executive willpower to try these things regularly enough myself to make a substantial friend, but this is what i want to try. you can also try reconnecting with old friends you enjoyed or never knew too well. it might be awkward or they might not be open to it, but my partner and i have the best time hanging out with my old roommates, even if we don't see them very often.
my high school friend and her well-paid techie brother still live with their parents and love it since their social circle is now their parents friends. as someone who doesnt really get along with my family too well, im honestly kinda jealous, even though stereotypically Id be the one to be envied with my own place and partner.
i have a switch too and 9 times out of 10 im booting it up to play light games with friends. it gets me a lot of use but hardly for real gaming. main exceptions are the zelda games, the mario sunshine reboot, and the ace attorney reboot, plus some of nintendos unique titles. the main upside to people is that you can get it pretty cheap compared to a nice gaming computer or a console so for casual gamers it gets you access to a lot on the online store, but if you are looking for pure longevity the ds is not a bad choice.
even for 1988 thats not a huge chunk of money. poverty is the biggest driver of crime. imagine if we reinvested all the money we pour into prisons into actually taking care of people
