  • For me, SC means Supreme Court and PoE means "Power over Ethernet" lol.

  • Unlike NFTs, it’s actually used by ordinary people

Yeah, but i don't recall every tech company shoving NFTs into every product ever whether it made sense or if people wanted it or not. Not so with AI. Like, pretty much every second or third tech article these days is "[Company] shoves AI somewhere else no one asked for".

It's being force-fed to people in a way blockchain and NFTs never were. All so it can gobble up training data.

  • Nice! I've done one-offs for like $60/each every so often but finally just set it to recurring. May bump it up at some point, though.

  • While I don't think the majority of their funding comes from the government, it's still an important contribution.

Edit: As with last time, putting my money where my mouth is, but ongoing this time. Also figured my local station needed the money more than the NPR network.

  • Oh, sure. Auto parts are exempt. Until they're not / never were. Just like computers, phones, and chips.

President Trump on Sunday said there were no exceptions made to his tariff announcements, adding that "nobody" will see an exemption in his widening trade war. The message, posted to Truth Social, came after some electronics were excluded from his administration's 145% import levies on goods from China.

On Friday, a notice published by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office said that smartphones, computers and other electronics are excluded from his administration's tariffs on goods from China. Since early April, Mr. Trump has ratcheted up tariffs on China-made goods in a tit-for-tat between the U.S. and China over trade duties.

  • Does anyone else remember when "senile old man yells at the TV" wasn't relevant political news*? I do. Can we please go back to those times?

Oh, pre-2016, how I miss you.

(It's relevant because he has toadies in place to enforce his insane whims).

  • Yeah, this is like !twosentencehorror@sh.itjust.works material:

"Scientists Revive Organism Found Buried at Bottom of Ocean. 'What's the worst that could happen?' said the scientists"

  • Would would the point even be? They're mindless spambots no one asked for.

On my instance, I just ban them and defederate from repost instances. On my LW account, I was blocking the accounts individually and have since blocked metawire.eu entirely since it's nothing but automated repost slop.

It's like every couple months, some new joker comes along and thinks "gee, golly, it's empty here compared to R****t. I bet people will appreciate it if I made a bot to spam out content" and pats themselves on the back for a spam well done.

  • Do it

  • I"m playing Bioshock: Infinite and was just in the Salty Oyster bar where "Makin' Whoopee" plays on the phonograph.

    So....yeah.

  • All instance banned with prejudice.

  • I think my two favorite Seska episodes were the ones after she was dead. The one with Tuvok's hacked security training program / holonovel and then "Shattered". She just seemed way more cunning and dangerous in those two than she ever did when she was allied with the Kazon ("Shattered" notwithstanding).

  • My instance isn't subscribed, but feel free to xpost it!

  • Maybe a LoRa node with a GPS module and install Meshtastic on it? It's got a "tracker" mode.

Heltec makes fairly inexpensive ones, but you'll need to supply your own GPS module.

The RAKWirelss Wisblock is modular and basically snaps together; they're a little more expensive, but they're also more power efficient and can be smaller when adding the GPS.

You'd need to be in range, but with a decent antenna (can possibly sew it into the bag), range can be several km.

  • Gotcha! Thanks for explaining the joke. I was so lost lol.

  • I'm so confused lol.

Two people have replied that so far.
