  • "More exciting news: around the end of this month, we’ll release a public web interface. With this, you’ll be able to view posts on Bluesky without being logged in on an account." - huge news, this is critical for making bluesky a plausible place to base your online presence.

  • Obviously this isn't about comparing the credit Biden should get vs what unions should get, it's comparing him to the very low bar of other US presidents.

I'd agree that FDR is the right answer if you're old enough, but I'd say Biden probably takes it for post-FDR presidents, and definitely does for post-LBJ. Even putting aside his pro-union rhetoric or the symbolism of being the first president to walk a picket line, the improvement in NLRB policy from prior Democrats, much less Republicans, is really staggering.

  • Lately I've just been rewatching the final episode of the previous season before starting a new one. I'm a little lost in that episode but by the end I'm following along, and it's usually an exciting finale episode that gets me excited to watch the next episode.

  • Yeah this is all be driven by the Dems wanting both the Israel aid and the IRS funding, and the Republicans wanting the Israel aid but not the IRS funding. Meanwhile sensible people like you and I want the IRS funding but not the Israel aid.

  • Threatened her? I guess you're referring to this?

The girl said that she was “happy” to learn she was pregnant, but said Kadyn Swainston told her that he would not pay child support and that the relationship would be over if she gave birth, court records show. The girl also said that Rachael Swainston made the arrangements for the girl to have an abortion. Rachael Swainston told the girl that Kadyn Swainston would get in trouble because he was over 18, and threatened to kick her out of the house if she revealed she was pregnant to her parents, police said.

I don't think a mother telling her teenage son's girlfriend that she's not going to have a baby she can't support under her roof is inappropriate. She could go back to her parents or anywhere else on Earth that would have her if she wanted to become a teen mother.

  • That's a little misleading, this was a 16 year old who was living with her 18 year old boyfriend and his mom. Obviously having an abortion was the only remotely sensible thing to do rather than bringing a baby into that household.

  • I didn't leave immediately, but then my account got banned and having started using lemmy made me not bother making a new one. I may have to eventually venture back to reddit for the occasional niche community, but otherwise lemmy is just as good for getting my posting and scrolling done.

I'm a heavy poster and posting things I read to the appropriate subreddit has been a part of my internet process for a long time, so it was key to have a new place to keep doing that. Though that has resulted in there being several subs on here where I have made a large majority of the posts... but I tell myself it's more worthwhile to be posting things here where they'll be seen by fewer people but will contribute to this community existing rather than giving free content to reddit.

  • I basically just eat whatever I feel like whenever I feel like it. Lots of meat and fat and salt. Seems to work great, I'm reasonably skinny and healthy. To the extent I'm not just getting randomly lucky I think I've stumbled into something in the Atkins diet genre, with unlimited calorie and nutrient dense foods not being an issue because they fill me up when I've had enough.

  • Yeah Teslas mostly seem like big integrated bricks of tech that you have to throw out if one part breaks, wouldn't have expected this level of individual modification was possible. Now they just need to make this an option for everyone!

  • Thank god, good to get at least a break from the American sanctions and propaganda programs aimed at regime change in Venezuela. We'll see if the US is really willing to send monitors to the upcoming election to verify it's fair or if they'll refuse and go back to the dictator allegations.
