  • Reddit enhancement suite still works on old Reddit, so if you need decent tools, you can still mod from your computer. But no more moderating from the toilet at work. No more moderating on the bus.

One subreddit I still occasionally visit is now only moderated on the weekend. You can imagine how the quality has dropped

  • The reason it goes both ways is the heat puts more energy in the weather. My country is getting rain like it was a la Niña year, in an el niño year. Air currents move and America gets snow

The climate is changing. That affects weather. Weather is chaotic, small influences can have large effects. Climate change is a large influence.

  • We are in an ice age, you can tell because there is an ice cap at both poles.

We are in an interglacial period, which if we fixed carbon pollution today would still continue for tens of thousands of years beyond it's expected end

There used to be a theory that this sort of weather reinforces the northern ice and glaciers and could start glaciation, but that's not supported by modern models

  • The day after tomorrow was related, but relied on a no longer mainstream idea that the Arctic vortex could become a whole northern hemisphere storm, so big it would liquify nitrogen in its central low

We really hope that's not a thing that can happen. It would render most of the northern hemisphere dead

  • Some people want a short term contract. If too few people want such, the company will have to pay a premium to hire people short term.

There of course must also be penalties for companies that hire ongoing, but end it before retirement

  • They mean the handset price will go up, since Apple will no longer be able to suck as much app store money from you

Though I don't expect many people to take advantage of their new freedom - look at the number of Android users who have ever side loaded apps, or used a store which didn't come with their phone

  • All diets do ensure you eat no more than you need. Some of us can't just eat less, and need to switch to the two macro nutrients that we have limits on. You can overeat protein, but it's hard and doesn't taste good after you've had enough, and it will be balanced by your eating less the next day. You simply can't eat more fat than you need, it will make you sick if you overeat by a lot, but overeat fat at all and you will excrete the excess

There is no limit but the size of your stomach and the hours in the day for carbohydrates

So it's easy to do no more calories than you need on low carb

  • I have tried about every diet and that one didn't work at all for me. After all the common ones I did Atkins for a few months to great success, but couldn't keep it up. Then the internet renamed Atkins induction to keto and I tried that for about six months a few times and always failed and put on all I lost.

Then from low carb I found zerocarb and that was the first easy diet. Now zerocarb is called carnivore and I'm still on it, slowly becoming thinner
