  • Yeah and free parking jackpots break monopoly by making the game run for hours

Failed skill checks on 1 break d&d by making skilled people fail regularly just as less skilled people do. I also play in the Palladium system where skill checks are on percentile dice and also don't fail on a minimum roll

One of the things I don't like about BG3 is that the rogue with godlike sneak can't get far with greater invisibility because everything they touch gives a 1/20 chance of being heard

When I roll a d&d skill I call out the total. A 1 might be 6 or 10. I'm not participating in rewriting the basic rules of the game

  • Success is being better about producing offspring that can grow old enough to produce offspring better* than everything competing for your niech

*Better is the more optimal rate. Overpopulation is sub optimal

  • They choose a pool of jurors randomly. You don't need to pretend to be uninformed until you're in the room (unless you comment under your real name), where they select the actual jurors after each side has excluded some

  • I don't filter at all, I don't like the chance of false positives. Like I'm sick of content about a particular EV company, but I wouldn't want to miss news about them dumping their CEO

It's not hard to scroll past stuff I don't like

  • hol up

    Jump
  • Much the same in Australia, though we now have more American style churches appearing and I'm not yet willing to judge the people who attend those

It's nice that when Australia's equivalent of MAGA came to Canberra (our capital) to protest, and they had far far fewer than our last workers rights protest

  • That's close enough for radio. You can't cut an antenna much closer than that precision, and it'll stretch or shrink with temperature anyway. I guess the error could add up enough to be a problem in lengths of fibre optic cables, especially as they run at about c/3

  • There is no way of producing pi as a number. There aren't enough atoms in the visible universe to write out pi in an 8 bit font. There aren't enough atoms to write out pi in binary with atoms representing ones and empty space representing zeros
