  • Yeah, I checked the bottom of the pieces.

  • It was an article about the results of a survey about smartphone use. Seems very relevant.

  • The one a little bit further down - "Trumpery" meaning "Deceit; fraud" - needs to make a comeback.

  • I grew up in a place and went to school somewhere. My hobbies include several things that demonstrate commitment and ambition. My values exactly match those of this company. My biggest dream in life is to work hard to make your shareholders lots of money.

  • I would question the ability to line people up on a railroad track such that they have a 1:1 correspondence with the real numbers.

  • I haven't used it much, but I saw that Oh The Urbanity is on there, if you're interested in that kind of thing. They do urbanism videos, often focused on Canadian cities, in the vein of Not Just Bikes and City Beautiful.

  • In Japan tipping is offensive because it puts the customer above the server

    Saying they don't put the customer above the server in Japan sounds very wrong to me. Servers use highly polite language to customers, while customers generally act in a way that feels very dismissive to me as an American - e.g. yelling to no one in particular when you want service, saying nothing when a server brings food or drinks. This is my experience at least.
