We bought Teslas six years ago. (Why we had to replace two cars in short order is a story for another day.) We did it at least in part because we were “voting with our wallets,” meaning we were trying to signal in our small way to the automotive industry that we wanted EVs.

Saaaame. We have an X and a 3, with like two months of payments left on the X and then we’re payment free until they die or are totaled. If something happened to the big one, I’d totally look at the Rivian. But I have no idea what I’d replace the 3 with. Maybe one of the Hyundais but I think they’re super ugly, especially the new one. So instead I’m hoping that they last long enough for there to be way more small model options out there.

My friend has one that says “SHUT UP ELON” and I want one.

I pan fry hotdogs all the time. I put a little water in the pan to help the hotdogs heat all the way through and then let it burn off and fry them a bit to get them slightly crispy.

WOW. I live relatively near an active base and occasionally these beasts will fly overhead. I had no idea they were capable of literally flying through hurricanes; that is extra badass. I’m not really an aircraft enthusiast or anything but it still gives me a bit of a thrill to hear them thundering overhead.

That’s not so bad! Yeah this particular cat is also particularly dense😂 She’s dumb but beautiful so she’s got that going for her, lol.

I have to be careful with my yarn because one of mine likes to eat anything resembling string or rubber bands.

Usually when I back out of a comment, it’s for one of two reasons. Either I start second-guessing my level of knowledge about a subject, or (being an over-sharer IRL) I decide I was giving too much personal information.

Oh I had that book, and Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark, so I just assumed that story was in the latter. Funny what you misremember! I definitely remember that one clearly. Now I want to go look at the list of stories…

I mean, that’s a pretty good run. I’ve never had to wear glasses but now at 41 I need readers when my eyes are tired, and when they’re not they’re working harder for clarity than they ever had to before. I said something to my dad about it a couple years ago as I was first noticing the change and he said, “How old are you? Ah yeah, that’s about the age.” (Yes my dad had to check how old I was. 🙄)

Oh yeah, that makes sense.

Salem to Sacramento shouldn’t take that long unless there is gnarly traffic. As a kid, my family regularly did San Jose to Seattle in 16 hours.

So will an earthquake. It may be “cheap” but we do it that way because it’s light. At least in California. That way if it falls on you, you might not die.

I’m from California so my wealth meter is broken beyond all reason. Is 1.1 million euros really considered “rich?” Everybody’s making jokes about wearing a monocle or not asking questions about flooding and I’m sitting here thinking about the house on my street that sold for about that much recently…and is a tear-down. 😭

Edit: actually wait, it was more like twice that much… it was like $2.3 mil and there’s no way they do any less than strip it to the framing.

We have two electric cars, a big one and a small one. The small one is “mine” and the big one is “his.” However, we both work from home so the only commute anymore is taking the kids to school. So, whenever possible, we take the little one because it’s more efficient by far. He doesn’t mind and thankfully it saves seat profiles, even if we always have to adjust the mirror.
