Currently there is support for a network connection over thunderbolt you can use as a basis. If you want to send other data without network encapsulation, you'll need to write a kernel module for that.

I'm not sure how well maintained it is, but porteus-kiosk might ve a very good fit for this use case..

No need for a systemd switch. It should work with a dedicated "portal" browser that bypasses the global dns and has a built-in resolver using the dns from dhcp.

There is also an alternative push protocol called UnifiedPush, but not many of the popular privacy focused messengers care to implement it.

Shocking, right? (/s) You don't get what you do not pay for. OVH also offers private cloud hosting, basically managed servers in a cloud setup and normal hosting options. I have no idea, what the datacenter was primarily used for.

Firefox <116 is currently not able to use the e2e-encryption, blink based browser already support it. Firefox 117 will provide the necessary infrastructure as well. At least you should be able to use your local password manager as well if you don't care about keeping your 2fa on separate hardware. KeePass 2, KeePassXC, Bitwarden, ...
