  • Trump's only chance is probably to foul the magisterial process as much as possible to prevent it from holding him accountable. It's worked for him so far, and even if he is taken into custody, that will only increase his popularity and stoke outrage. There's nothing for him to lose.

  • I enjoyed it and I give J. Michael Straczyinski a lot of credit for being able to conceive and tell a good story even with some difficult production and casting problems. While the plot can be simplistic there are not a lot of loose threads and there are many interesting characters. I think for the time (the 1990s) it was incredibly ambitious before streaming made more dedicated audience participation possible.

  • To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, a time to reap that which is planted;

    How can you expect something like a social media website, so recently conceived, to persist in its present form so long? Everything changes so fast. Remember when televisions were these big boxes and there were only three channels?

  • I thought his plan was going to be something remotely plausible like defunding the Justice Department. Maybe they will try to subpoena the work product of Jack Smith's investigation to hamper his investigation. I think they will try anything.

  • Since people mostly vote along party lines nowadays, regardless of whomever each party nominates, the race is really who is nominated by each party. The problem now for a party is increasing turnout, not changing the minds of voters. And turnout in primary elections, which determines the nomination, is dominated by the extreme elements of a party. So you get candidates that appeal to the most extreme elements that vote in the primaries.

  • Matthew 25:41-46 English Standard Version

    41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

  • Yeah, this is the chaebol system at work. The Faustian deal between these megacorps and the citizens of South Korea means that it is impossible for Samsung to fail or to be accountable for their bad business decisions. South Korea is the most developed cyberpunk technofeudalistic society.

  • I think the republicans would accept Supreme Court reform because they would count on the Supreme Court justices to declare the reforms unconstitutional citing separation of powers. I just don't see any option besides packing the court.

  • A good manager doesn't tell people how to do their jobs. If a person doesn't know how to do their job, they shouldn't be doing that job, regardless of their age. The manager makes expectations known, tries to facilitate communication, and makes a reasonable effort to provide an environment for a person to succeed. Your job is to coordinate the effort of a team, so be understanding but do not allow yourself to be disrespected.
