  • It's quite likely a lot of Americans' data is already being stored and perhaps mined in the Utah Data Center.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utah_Data_Center

I would just assume your data could be there unless your computer has never been connected to the Internet. It's simply too easy to hide surveillance in the processor (in the form of remote administration capabilities), the operating system (with remote updates), or the browser, or in the numerous security holes or likely zero-day exploits out there. The state of computer security is an absolute joke, and your 4096-bit RSA key is not keeping your data safe.

  • The NSA does not need money from asset forfeiture. This is one of the stupidest accusations I've heard of NSA. They have to be careful about how they use their intelligence to keep potential targets unaware of what they can or are snooping on. This would be the stupidest and most pointless use of their intelligence. Anyone they would share intelligence with must do so with the most absolute secrecy, and municipal and state law enforcement generally does not qualify. This doesn't mean they're not acting unlawfully, but knowing if they are is going to next to impossible.

  • But if you're wealthy and have powerful friends, you're probably not going to face consequences, and if you do, it will take an inordinate amount of time and effort, and you have to be extremely blatant about your transgression. Otherwise you're gonna be fine.

Remember, this is the guy who said he could kill someone in the middle of 5th avenue and face no consequences. He's not wrong.

  • Hey, I'm working on a guitar pedal. It is a multi-effects pedal based on a Pi Pico:

    http://www.github.com/profdc9/GuitarPico

It will connect to a VGA monitor and have cool visual effects to go along the with the playing. So far I have implemented:

Delay, Room Echoes, Low Pass, High Pass, Bandpass, Wah Pedal, Phaser, Flanger, Distortion, Overdrive, and Ring Modulator.

The pedal can be programmed so that several effects are cascaded.

  • Lithium makes more sense when weight is an issue, for example when you have to carry the battery around. Sodium batteries could be good for grid storage if they can be implemented as scale cheaply enough, especially using common materials.

  • If there are commercials, why should someone need an Amazon Prime membership at all? It becomes just like broadcast TV then, and they should just allow anyone to watch to maximize revenue. They have all this AWS infrastructure to deliver video, why not maximize the use of it?

  • A dollar bill weighs about a gram. So 44 billion dollars is 44 million kg of paper. This would release about 16 MJ/kg upon combustion, so a total of 700 TJ of energy. This is about the same as an 150 kiloton nuclear bomb.

So Elon Musk is destroying Xitter with the equivalent energy of a strategic nuclear warhead. This is some real creative destruction.
