  • Yeah but that's only from technical standpoint. Adoption is king and right now we're pretty far away from ARM or risc being commonplace. Hence, a handheld with a non x86 chip does not make sense now or in the near future. Not to mention that people tend to want to run emulators and old games with these devices and those will never be "compiled natively" for either arm or risc.

  • Those are synthetic CPU tests. It's not a valid point of reference when discussing a cpu+gpu workload for an x86 game. Plus, you're comparing with 3 year old Intel cpus. The mobile king right now are AMD APUs.

  • You do realize it's not that simple, right? That's arm, not x86 so it would be a different architecture from consoles and pcs. It necessitates using some sort of translation layer like rosetta for mac and that tanks performance. So no, in the short term that wouldn't be neat.

  • Not quite. It shows the online status for the people that are in that channel. Not all users are in all channels so, imo, it makes sense. The only complaint I can think of is that you can't see the status for all of the people in a server.

  • It is not. This is just repeating the same braindead take from tweets that want to ridicule the institution.

On the other hand, I know several engineers and physicists that work there and have to make do with very scarce resources. Not just that, many of them end up working abroad because our education system is actually pretty good.

  • Funny that you mention someone elses ignorance and then go on to say that CONICET is not a serious investigation organism. I presonally know very intelligent doing good work there with the very scarce resources they are given.

On top of that, Milei's ""reasoning"" is that the private sector should be the one that funds this type institution. Good luck getting private companies to fund pollution studies for example. Having a good state funded scientific research center is incredibly valuable.

  • He's pro-military (his vicepresident was friends with Videla), he doesn't have the means to actually dollarize the economy and he also has absolutely no political structure or support to implement his idiotic ideas.

Even if he is elected (and that's a big if) he won't be able to make any changes and would probably not be able to complete the 4-year term.
