a type 1 hypervisor is practically an operating system itself, just a very minimal one. it's like installing virtualbox to your hard drive. it's probably not best for your situation, because its usually used in servers.

by that definition, librewolf is the base of firefox, and one ui is base android as well. google pixel ui is not anywhere near "base" android. the base of something is the support of it, and android supports both oneui and pixel ui. at the core, the foundation, the base, one ui and pixel ui are android. android is not reliant on google services, google services are reliant on android. If we are speaking of android phones, they don't have a bios, but they have a bootloader. The bootloader starts the kernel or the recovery, and it can be used to unbrick a device, by reflashing or flashing stock. if you fuck up the bootloader flashing, or disable oem unlocking again and then the phone fucks up, that is the only time the phone can be truly bricked. as for your second statement, the successor to BIOS is UEFI, and UEFI has arm support.

I know that you can use a Type-1 Hypervisor to run two OSes at once. That will generally need a higher spec system, because it basically runs two systems at once. Not a very practical option.

Beware that Surface computers need a custom kernel for some features to work. It depends on the distro and the features you use, but I'd suggest you see the linux-surface project for more info. As for updates, standard Debian has a stable release model, and is one of the more stable Linux distros in general, so I don't think he would have issues with any automatic updates. I'd just say that you should try to be on standby for tech support, as Linux has many differences and is naturally a bit more prone to issues than Windows.

Yeah, it's great to help contribute like that, I live in a really small town so the map was quite out of date, so I patched it up. OSM is slowly becoming a legitimate competitor with Google Maps and Apple Maps in terms of data quality and Google is cowering in fear that a libre, ad-free app will be far better than their closed-source, ad-infested, data-selling app.

No, i use a custom rom for most of my phones, so the ai bs is worthless to me. I'd rather just but a 6 or 7 for a cheaper price than an 8 or 9 for a higher price without any significant hardware upgrades.
