  • No, there are some infinities bigger than other infinities. I know it sounds dumb, but this has been mathematically demonstrated. All infinities aren't the same size, basically.

The set of rational numbers is larger than the set of integer numbers, even though they are both infinite.

What the person you replied is trying to say is that the intinite amount of universes that exist is infinitely larger that the infinite amount of universes in which you exist.

Personally, I think we can't mathematically understand if the multiverse is a countable or uncountable infinite... Maybe we can? I don't know.

  • Are we talking about the internet? I honestly feel the internet is just too wild for children. I'd even create legislation for phones and computers to have mandatory internet security features for minors. I grew up looking at things like Rotten and Liveleaks with friends at school. Without noticing, watching people die in gory ways was my main internet activity at 15, and it was pretty hard to stop that habit. I wish I didn't have access to that content at that age, I was pretty fucked up for a couple of years. I was totally desensitized and didn't care when a family member died, didn't feel a thing. I knew it was wrong, I just couldn't feel anything.

  • I think it's fine that they are making it a bit harder for kids. Overexposure to this can cause issues in mental health and the brain. So yeha, this won't stop anybody for accessing porn if they really want it but it will prevent overexposure.

  • One day we'll look back and wonder "why did we even think it was possible for human population to keep growing without limits in a limited space with limited resources?"

Wait, that day already happened years ago.

The 1 child policy already proved to be the wrong solution. Do you have any other ideas on how to stop the population growth while keeping the population young?

We have tripled our population in 50 years. Life expectancy is higher than ever and will keep getting higher.

Solutions? Or do we just sit down mocking reality until we die?

  • You're assuming it only consumes exactly what it needs to survive and not even a small amount more than that. You'll have to prove that. Pretty sure they probably keep some buffer or give priority to their own species or certain species, making the network their own buffer. Would that be mushroom racism? I don't want to learn anything from racist mushrooms man.

  • Their retirement money sucks because there are too many of them. Because there are too many of them, young people have no resources. Because young people have no resources, people don't want to have kids. Because they don't have kids, there aren't enough young workers to generate decent retirement money for old people.

    It's a cycle.

    It's really the best solution...

    • Promotes young people to procreate
    • Helps the planet with overpopulation
    • Removes the people who are no longer giving back to society
    • Gives better retirement years to people who reach age 55.
    • Lowers the prices of properties because most properties are held by older people.
    • Removes the portion of the population with declining minds. It's like eugenics without discrimination. It applies equally to everyone. Enjoy your 75 years and let others enjoy theirs.

Seriously, I can only see positives. The only problem is that people are too attached to life. Humans are too self-centered for something like this. 75 years is enough to experience whatever. You'll retire younger and have actual money to enjoy your last 20 years.

This is a temporary solution though. The population would still grow, but at least it would be mostly workers that are probably figuring out how to solve the issues permanently.

  • I honestly feel we need to set a limit to human lifespan. Healthcare is advancing too fast for this to be sustainable.

Bro, you lived 75 years, please die already so new generations can have some resources for themselves, stop hogging everything, you... hogger. Lower the retirement age to 55 and let people enjoy their last 20 years with decent retirement money because there's less old people to maintain.

This is the only solution I can think of. If the population keeps growing at this rate and we don't start culling ourselves, we'll make the planet inhabitable.

Young people are necessary for the economy to bloom and to sustain old people after retirement. I don't think sterilization is an option.

  • So we're tackling a fraction of the suicides (only impulse) from the 2000 people who killed themselves in that place over 100 years. So 20 people per year. Let's say 50% of those were caused by impulse because we have no statistics. 10 per year in a city with 2.5K suicides per year.

Someone who wanted to commit suicide by impulse and didn't do it there will probably feel the impulse again somewhere else. So again, doing the 50% rule, let's say you saved only 5 of the 10.

Go for the root cause. This is just a waste of money.

  • It was credential stuffing. Basically these people were hacked in other services. Those services probably told them "Hey, you need to change your password because our database was hacked" and then they were like "meh, I'll keep using this password and won't update my other services that this password and personally identifiable information about myself and my relatives".

Both are at fault, but the users reusing passwords with no MFA are dumb as fuck.

  • What's the point? Someone who wants to kill themselves will probably find another way. It's not like there's a shortage of ways to commit suicide. I could literally list 1000 ways to do it in this comment but I'm too lazy.

"Oh man, there's a net over the bridge, I guess I'm not killing myself now. Oh well." — Someone living on an 8th floor.

Go for the root cause and attack the mental health issues...
