  • The comment didn't appear to be good faith dialogue. If you thought it did, that would explain your confusion. No one owes you any sort of good faith dialogue after that point. You take the lesson about being less careless with words and they can have their strict peace. I don't see the value in the complaints and whining after that point. It seemed like you had a particular axe to grind with one specific event and chose to try and goad them elsewhere. Why else call a bunch of far leftists conservatives if not trying to kick the bees nest. Your whole approach with your question was extremely intentional to try and attack them. It was not done harmlessly and it was even kind of childish.

Not everyone needs to like you. You will gain nothing of value and simply add negativity into the world with your continual pestering about it. Like what is even your end goal? What do you want to actually happen?

  • Kids aren't the only ones with gaming consoles. And I already countered the idea of putting a console on a different TV.

Again, the price point may be high, but it's literally not much more than the cost of a screen plus a controller.

  • It wasn't drug users. It was homeless people. It's in the screenshot that's on this forum. He said they should be chasing homeless people off the trains. "Clarification" was later. It was pointed out to him homeless people and drug users aren't even one and the same (a poor mistake I saw you made in your comment as well).

If you didn't even see the comments, why are you defending them? You're interpreting them (oddly without having seen them I guess) in a braindead way to assume no malice or negativity were in the comments.

  • Why is sharing ownership weird to you but the fact they're just taking a lions share of the worker's wealth indefinitely not weird to you? Why do you believe workers should be sharing their wealth with already rich people?

  • Can one use the cloud streaming via their PS5?

Edit: also I don't think it's that niche. I see this being a common occurrence in any household with only one high end TV and more than one person who wants to use it. The price point isn't much more than a controller and a screen to begin with. They should sell the remote play hardware without the screen (just hdmi out) and controller (just include a bluetooth chip to allow controller pairing) at a lower price point to appeal to a wider market (cause portability in the household seems less useful, but just using another TV seems more common)

  • I've seen people complain that Mastodon doesn't offer curated accounts to follow. Like, yeah, I wish more content creators were on it (not totally related) and be able to find those that are (this is "the problem" people have) , but I don't want some feedback loop of creators just gaming the system to start trending, etc. Mastodon doesn't amplify anyone over anyone else. You can argue maybe having a lot of followers can amplify your message, but only if they each boost your message individually.

Long story short and without the rambling rant, I agree with you and am surprised when folks complain. Honestly I just don't think they have taken the time to realize the downside.

  • It's fairly meaningless. I didn't even know it was there. It affects nothing and I don't really see people worry about it. Not to say you should come over here suddenly, but Kbin does have better content control (though pretty sure that's only temporary as I believe Lemmy is working on it). Kbin has instance blocking so even if your instance federates with instance B, you can still block instance B. It's not a big deal and I haven't used it, but I do like having more control over what I see.

  • I'm just a Kbin user feeling left out as people keep referencing the whole thing as Lemmy when it's on the fediverse.

That being said I do miss the niche communities and wouldn't mind getting them here.

  • Except the fact that the joke relies on the concept everyone would understand it. So not getting the joke undermines the joke as that was it's whole fucking point. It's literally trying to say a generalized idea of the internet and is objectively incorrect. It tried to do it in a funny way and objectively failed when the premise is laughably untrue.

  • Eh, maybe. While I am familiar with those things, I don't think I'd ever assume everyone my age and on the Internet would as well. Different strokes for different folks. Moreover, this didn't even take into account age at all. So not only did it appear to strike out with many of the same age, it'll likely strike out with most users who simply weren't on the Internet for that relatively small period of time.
