“Extreme social interest” like universal healthcare / basic income, human rights, being anti genocide, pro-human rights, basic privacy rights… list goes on.
My good fellow, extremists are not here shitposting, they’re running the biggest economies of the world. World’s richest man did 2 nazi salutes a couple weeks ago. Twitter is full of nazis. Spotify is hosting Andrew Tate podcasts.
“Public/open source = bad” is exactly what those people want the public to think, because it can’t be monetized and easily controlled.
100% of the time? Alternative OS? Do you think there’s one OS and that’s windows? Do you think people who need something to work 100% of the time choose Microsoft?
Also the greed. Charging for the virtual tour game (however cheap it may be), charging for performance updates to existing games (not extra content, only performance). Switch 1 games should just run better on the new console by default.
I’m not even sure hw is fairly priced. They’re able to sell the same thing in Japan for 100$ cheaper. I don’t think they’re losing money there.
By raw numbers I have around 500 games on steam and there’s a huge sale every 3-4 months. Deck is also a pretty capable computer and runs Linux. Deck can run games from many platforms, not just steam.
Ben & Jerry’s is actually cool though, no? Although they’re a capitalistic enterprise in the full sense, they had the spine to put a stand against Gaza genocide
Yes, but 1000 mirrors will pop up immediately if that happens. Internet is hard to control. They can’t even stop torrenting sites which is mostly used for piracy.
Spotify is not owned by Tencent. It’s publicly traded, and tencent owns part of it.
There are a lot of reasons to hate Spotify (and Daniel Ek) but this is not one of it.
The short version: Tencent Holdings is about to own 10 percent of Universal, which in turns owns around 3.5 percent in Spotify, which in turn owns around nine percent in Tencent Music Entertainment, which in turn is part-owned by Universal’s two main rivals (Warner and Sony), but remains majority owned by Tencent Holdings, which in turn owns 9.1 percent of Spotify. (And, yes, no kidding, that’s the short version.)
Do buy great indie games at full price to support indie devs even more (stardew, Balatro, dead cells, hollow knight, terraria, rimworld….)
