Honestly I'd love to try kagi but it's so hard to de-googleify your life when you use Gmail and use an Android phone. Like, I'd like to, but it feels like such a pipe dream if I want to use tech I've grown accustomed to.
Especially bc kagi expects a subscription (it should, searching isn't cheap and I like not being the product) but when money is tight it's hard to justify paying for searching when Google and co are right there
This is a really beautiful condensing of one of the myriad factors that makes arcane such a special series. More shows really need to carefully consider their characters as people and not just fictional contrivances, and it's something arcane really does do masterfully.
So, not to be cold to this decision (because I totally understand that this didn't come lightly and don't want to "well ackshually" the mod team) but given I'm new to the fediverse as a concept, what does this mean for me as an end-user? Can I no longer engage with those communities at all? Or rather, what does defederating mean overall?
