  • I've tried getting a way too cheap, really bad projector running Android to work once. From Wish or something, I guess. It was a truly unpleasant experience. Fortunately, it wasn't mine!

Also, I had a good ol' dumb Epson projector 10-15 years ago, but it had a very noisy fan, meaning you had to always turn up your HiFi to try and camouflage the fan noise in louder sound than you else would've had. Are low-end consumer projectors still that noisy?

  • I solved this problem on my Xiaomi Mi Box S 4K by installing FLauncher, and setting it as the default launcher (on my own box as well as my parents').

LeanbackOnFire is another great option, but FLauncher has better customizability options, and that's what I prefer.

In this way, I haven't seen a single system UI ad on my Android TV box for years. For ad-free YouTube, I'm using SmartTube. So far, it's been amazing.

  • I've never thought of it before now, but I think sound pareidolia is a thing too. For instance, hearing someone distantly calling your name - but it was just some random noise that your brain tried making sense of.

  • Vice versa, many things that aren't unethical are illegal nevertheless, which makes mindless people think they're unethical - such as free trading, doing drugs, or simply deciding opening hours of your own shop, to mention a few...

🤔 "Why should doing drugs be illegal?"

    🤡 "Because it's unethical!"

🤔 "Why do you believe it's unethical?"

🤡 "Well, duh, because it's illegal!!!"

  • Thanks for posting this picture. I had a different app with the name "Tuner" (by Bill Farmer) installed, also from F-Droid, and thought you were praising that one, but while it has a lot of advanced options one might never use, as well as an incredibly ugly UI, this one (by Michael Moessner) just seems more user-friendly to me.

Other tuner apps in F-Droid worth mentioning:

    • ccgt
    • Cythara
    • Tunerly
    • Practice Suite (toolkit for musicians)
    • Fiddle Assistant (for violin, with note log)
  • Right, I have written a few bash scripts, so I know about the .sh file extension. Though, I'm wondering if changing the username to .sh is problematic and, if so, why? Is it something the OS can't handle, or would it just be some sort of gimmicky username?

  • What does the Debian Edition bring that regular Mint doesn't? My headless server is running a Debian-based distro (Raspberry Pi OS), so most of my Linux knowledge is based on Debian. Would installing the Debian Edition of Mint on my laptop make more sense (in this case) than regular Mint would? Why did you make the recent switch?

Edit: Oh, it's "just" Mint with the Debian DE?
