I actually love email. While yes, this post is accurate, email is the most filterable communication system that I have. Since I have my own email-server, and I know how procmail rules work, I can tightly control who is allowed to contact me, and what folders their messages go into. It also has great crowd-sourcing of known spammers, that I can pull from to help me filter out spammy IP addresses.
Every other message system only has a "report spam" button, that is dependent on the service admins, and doesn't actually stop people from sending me annoying junk-mail.
I wish this was true. I live in a fairly blue area, and I see them IRL all the time. I've been called a "mindless Trump drone" for saying that the Democrats should stop running unpopular candidates and unpopular policies. I've been told I was a monster for thinking that the Democrats shouldn't put up rapists as presidents, and that they shouldn't bomb children.
While I do think the blue cult is amplified online, I think it is, unfortunately, very real as well.
I generally tag people who are being shitty. It's totally fine if they disagree with me about things, or downvote me or whatever. But if they just insult others, or openly lie/mislead, or yell at others without bringing an actual argument, then they start getting tags. After enough tags, they get blocked.
I've heard it's where all of the Reddit exiles signed up. I have no idea if it's true or not, but it sounds plausible. I remember when people pointed out factually inconvenient things about Biden on Reddit, they'd get downvote-bombed.
Remember when they got mad after Trump said "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters"? They said it was cult-like behavior by his followers.
But when Biden bombs children, or backs a genocide, it's somehow not cult-like behavior to keep supporting him.
I love horror movies. Gory, scary, disturbing, gross, high quality, low quality... doesn't matter, I'm down. But I hate jump-scares, and too many horror games rely on jump-scares. It makes sense since it's an interactive medium, and jumps have their place, but designers rely on it way too much.
But it's never enforced. I get a lot of spam from US companies that don't have working unsubscribe mechanisms, and I report it all the time, but nothing is ever done about it.
...no one was actually pointing out that the Republicans were the same or worse.
Or the fact that everyone constantly and only was criticizing Biden...
Those are both completely untrue. I saw the election coverage. I saw a bunch of shit being thrown at Biden/Harris and Trump. The idea that it was one-sided is just ignoring how bad the Democratic candidates were.
Running unpopular candidates with unpopular positions is a bad idea. And being unwilling to call the DNC out for it is why we got such terrible candidates. Biden was the Emperor with New Clothes, and everyone could clearly see that. To place the blame on those who wanted a candidate that was popular with voters, instead of a naked emperor is disingenuous.
Well, I was talking about Harris, not Biden, but if you really want to know: Backing Genocide. Bad economic policy. Increased military spending. Half-assed fixes for healthcare costs. Half-assed fixes for policing. Half-assed fixes for climate-change. Just look at the polling at the time. It was clear that Americans didn't like him or his policies.
It is relevant, because the DNC telling everyone that their clearly cognitively impared candidate wasn't cognitively impared. That disenfranchised a lot of voters who gave up on the Democratic party after that. Harris had to spend her campaign with Biden and his legacy dragging her down.
You may think that the outrage at a clearly corrupt organization that handed the election over to fascists is silly, but a lot of people find that pretty important.
I'm arguing with you because you are lying. Plenty of people said that the Republicans are worse. I don't think the coverage was one sided, it's just that the Democrats couldn't see how bad their candidate was. Yes, some voters are dumb, and thought Trump would be better, that's how voters are. Maybe if we could have pointed to a party that was actually trying to fix things, we could have had better ammo to sway them.
I saw plenty of people criticizing Trump AND Biden. Saying that everyone constantly and only criticized Biden is openly false.
Well, I think being a terrible candidate that ran on unpopular platforms and alienated voters, all while trying to be as similar to a highly unpopular president might have also had something to do with it. I don't think being a woman was that big of a factor. The fact that we tried to warn you is highly relevant. Learning from your mistakes is how you stop making them, but the Democratic leadership keeps refusing to do that.
