"No, your OR really needs electrical power!"
"No, you can't still run your outpatient clinic during an active shooter situation!"
"For fucks sake,NO,you will not use a diesel generator indoors to power the ED!Not even with a open window. Your windows are 30cm x 1m"
And it has some options to interpret data following strict W3C standards. Which was incredibly helpful when learning, as it encouraged me (and a lot of others) to don't go down the IE/Netscape and later Chrome "specialities" road.
(Yes,I am that old....I still remember MS fucking FrontPage)
And then he will be a dead Hopefully. Through Vanguard and Blackrock the Saudis and Qataris are said to have substantial investments in Tesla. And especially the former are not kind people when it comes to fraud to their disadvantage.
It's the proper procedure - they have a "ranking" how they proceeded with countries that behave like that. The US currently is not quite yet in the "travel warning" area but is getting closer and closer every day (which they, despite the usual secrecy of diplomacy, told the media multiple times).
Considering the huge ramifications a travel warning has, it's reasonable to go step by step to gradually increase pressure, ideally together with European partners.
The formal travel warning is basically the biggest gun they have in their arsenal.
Amongst others that would mean:
Most travel insurance providers no longer would cover travellers. This is especially significant for business travel as then individual risk assessment need to be made. (I do the later...it's not cheap). And companies can no longer require their staff to travel to the US. So huge "risk bonuses" would be required. Even more significant for public employees and the European army personnel currently training in the US.
Airlines would have to take additional insurance by their brokers to cover flights to and from the US. That can easily double prices for passengers and freight.
Current trade contracts will have larger insurance costs, industrial goods and equipment that requires maintenance will have issues, etc. This is not a one way street, though,as European staff cannot be trained in the US either. Same goes for science, etc.
They will also ask you for your password for online accounts and refuse entry if you don't.
And as we have all seen recently that does not necessarily mean "next flight home".
Yeah.
Germany had more turnout on the streets against a far right populist party who isn't even in power.
Germany has around than 1/4 the population of the US.
And go to hell with "population centres far apart, etc." It's simply not a valid argument.
Germany even had more turnout when the actual Nazis did take over.
So did Italy with Mussolini or Chile with Pinochet.
The country who basically did claim to be the pinnacle of democracy for decades and flooded half of south America with illegal arms they claimed to need for "protection their freedom"? They rolled over.
Chuck Schumer rolled over and voted yes and so did the remaining population.
And there are numerous European/German companies who have already have put a hold on all US travel for their staff. Some critical infrastructure/defence companies even seek to implement "not even for vacation" clauses for their management levels.
The German government is openly considering a travel warning. Which would fuck over things a lot because then a) employers can hardly make their staff go to the US anymore b) most travel insurance companies won't cover the US anymore with their standard plans (it's already more expensive due to the insane healthcare costs) and require individual high risk country plans - which are a lot of paperwork and everything.
This will fuck over the US royally - because even if Trump wants to push US based manufacturing these factories need equipment. And this equipment is really not produced in the US much - it comes from Europe/Japan if you want the best and China if you are interested in the "cheap" stuff.
But now it will come with either a hefty surcharge (think like double the price - or more) or not come at all because it's not worth the hazzle.
Especially for factory equipment, healthcare (there are already a lot of medical product manufacturers who simply do not serve the US market due to the insane costs to access it with little to gain) and pharma this is very relevant.
Often reverse osmosis works better - and distillation systems require a lot of upkeep and energy costs. So there is that. And of course they only help if it's not their transport system.
All of the people who ever worked there deserve judicial punishment AND a court mandated ban to ever work with vulnerable people.
AND: Everyone who's job it was to make sure these facilities were up to standards and are adequately controlled needs to be helped responsible. That does intentionally not only mean the actual people doing the on-scene-audits, but also the people responsible for them. You can have the most upright and non corruptible people doing these audits - if they only have enough financing to have two for 2000 facilities they are useless.
First of all: Where in your system was the sample taken? At the well? At a tank? At a faucet?
The answer to this question is important for the next steps.
Be aware that high lead content can also be an issue for plant watering and even showering.
If the sample has been taken at a endpoint (faucet) I would try to get another sample at the well directly. If you are "lucky" the acidity of the water is the reason lead is brought into your system from a section of your transport system. In that case replacing the transport layer (basically: Get new pipes) is the best approach - while it's not cheap it is also not as expensive as filtering (or dealing with the health issues from lead, especially in the US).
If the well shows the same values you are screwed. There are basically two scenarios then: Your well installation itself is the problem - this is in theory "fixable" but expensive, but you might accidentally even poisoning your neighbours then.
(The way to find out if it's your installation is either with specialised equipment or, for some confirmation, get a sample from a neighbour who ideally life upstream from you)
If it's not your well installation then it's the well itself...and then you really really need a more extensive analysis: Lead in a ground water deposit is somewhat rare and often a indication something else is problematic - both because geologically lead is often next to other nasties, but also because human caused pollution with lead often goes with the real nasty stuff like arsenic, etc. And you really would want to find these.
Then shit sadly becomes really expensive.
Which a lot of people don't know: IOM also helps migration within industrialized nations - e.g. they used to have special flight conditions for migration to and from the US or Australia. (Mostly not cheaper but extra luggage allowance or things like that)
Nope,it hasn't.
If your glasses are fogging up in sync with your respiration rate or within a very short timeframe your mask is not sealing. Period.
The only difference is when you have either have a valve mask, work with a face shield or similar things or in confined spaces - it's basically impossible to fog up your glasses with a correctly positioned mask as the filter medium does work as a diffuser. If your mask does fog up suddenly despite a confirmed fit it usually is a warning sign for a breakdown of the filter medium.
(And believe me, we tried really hard - as part of a customer contract we tested all major mask manufacturers available in the EU, with a sample size in the 4 digit range, including UV fluid and thermal imaging tests)
I am fully aware that the equivalent of N95 is often seen as comparable to FFP2, but this is not actually quite correct. The FFP2 has a slightly worse filtration rate and a slightly higher resistance both for inspiration and expiration.
Anyway, I intentionally wrote FFP3 as this is the recommended FFP class for Measles while within the NIOSH legislation only a N95 is recommended.
Mhm. Hard. Due to the fact that engineering is split into subspecialties in most of Europe the "general purpose engineer" is often unknown. And for civil and fire protection work you would need a local degree to prove you know the codes. (Which tbh are vastly different).
But trying and failing is better than never trying + this is not my field and I just repeat what I gathered from friends in these fields.
Very much depends on your speciality in engineering - US engineering in some fields is world-class,in some fields it's,well, developing world. Very much depends on your field, therefore.
Every vaccination has a (although very slim) chance to cause an adverse reaction.
Around 5% of all people vaccinated have a minor skin reaction (which is physiological and not an anaphylaxis.
1% report joint pain.
But,more severely, 1-4 people out of a million develop a life-threatening anaphylaxis, 3 out 100.000 a serious blood clothing disorder. Very rarely(as in: Less than 1 in 1 Million), but with a slightly higher incidence of you are an adult pancreatitis and deafness is reported.
As medicine is always a game of chances we try not to risk things, even if they are rare.
Healthcare professional here - but not your HPC and you cannot confirm that I am who I am so double check what I write:
Get your titers checked and get revaccinationes asap. If you are not vaccinated or are a non-responder talk to your healthcare provider. Isolate until then.
Mask up and keep your hands away from mouth, eyes and nose. You will need a properly fitting FFP3/NP95 mask here - measles are far meaner in terms of infectiousness than COVID. Tight fitting means: You have no leaks at the side - if your glasses fog up, if you can feel air going in or out next to your face, etc. it is not working. The usual "duckbill" masks with straps around the ears very very rarely fit properly.
Oh god yes, so much.
