I was listening again to Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality. It gets really hilarious at times

It's okay people, even if the feature in itself is not awful, MS Teams still is awful. We can still bash on MS to relieve past Windows trauma.

I really want to dump on them but I can't find anything wrong with the feature... That's depressing, I'll have to look elsewhere for my dose of "MS can't do anything right lol"

Yes I see what you mean, I only stuck with the same install out of resignation and horror at the idea of doing everything again, but I constantly had the same urge to just wipe everything and restart. I hope your try with Nix goes well !

Wow resetting every few months must have been a lot of work... I never had the courage to do fresh Windows installs often, especially considering how long it took after every install to manually go through each setting, each pre-installed program and each service to manually clean everything up, and with each new Windows version a lot more crap to clean up 😭

Well I do use AliExpress because most of the stuff on Amazon is dropshipped from there anyway so I might as well get it cheaper, it has a lot more stuff than Amazon and more variety, and their website isn't as awful as Amazon's and actually makes it easy to find what you want instead of a chore, but I really wouldn't recommend it for privacy either 😅

I'm not that pessimistic, development for Ladybird seems to be going well and those crazy people are building it from scratch rather than basing it on Chromium or Firefox. There's also Servo. When Mozilla dies the forks will hang on for a while then we'll have alternatives.

Thanks ! I was really surprised to see that the whole process wasn't really that complicated to understand –at least for a very simple bash program, I haven't tried yet with something that needs compiling. I too really like how convenient and ADHD friendly Arch and the AUR are, coming from Windows it's like heaven 😭 I can't even imagine what it must be like to use Gentoo. Or LFS, because at that point why not !

Wow yes it was ! Those two, magic-tape and radion. Before the creator send me the links I had tried looking at random packages from the AUR but I didn't have much luck finding some with the same issue, it was looking at those that really helped !

I thought the guidelines recommending not to create files in $HOME was due to technical issues with the package not managing to find the right $HOME dir, and even if it did it would make use weird permissions, I had no idea it was also for security thanks for the explanation 🙂
