  • Sure, go for it and watch the American agriculture industry suffer. The immigrants (illegal or otherwise) are willing to do the incredibly difficult jobs of working the fields, harvesting difficult food, and so on. Here's a Newsweek article from 2021 that suggests 49% of the agricultural workforce is illegal immigrants [source.].

Those companies make bank by paying their workers under the table and under minimum wage. Maybe we should crack down on the companies hiring illegal immigrants instead of the actual workers?

But, oh right, this is just another case of the GOP looking to hate on the Other and rile up their base

  • Okay, I'm kinda stoked for this. I really liked the TVA in Loki Season 1, plus Wolverine in his yellow costume?! Sign me up.

  • "The new study adds significantly to the rising concern about an AMOC collapse in the not-too-distant future," said one scientist. "We will ignore this at our peril."

Narrator: And everyone who could actually affect change, or meaningfully prepare the population for the collapse ignored it.

  • I have one and I highly recommend the wifi card. I also have a slightly working Carbon Dioxide sensor - I say slightly because it's readings are consistently off when compared to my Aranet. Supposedly there's a way to calibrate, but I haven't had time to dig into it further.

My only issue with the device is that I wish there were more tamagochi elements to the dolphin buddy.

  • The closest i have is Local H, Bound for the Floor. The staccato distortion throughout makes (to my ears) a sound very similar to a 1992 Ford Tempo's "Your seatbelt isn't latched" chime.

I would be driving like a madman to highschool after oversleeping and it would make me keep double checking my belt.

  • Is it over already? That Livestream just streamed for 10s before ending.

  • Why can't they be both? (Gif of taco bell family goes here)

Edit: woof, sorry all, lesson learned with referring to the Taco Bell gif as "Latinx". Fixed hopefully?

  • Well they passed the border bill, securing our borders and providing much needed support for Ukraine all while forcing the Dems to give up nearly everything they stand for.... Oh wait, that deal is basically dead now because it would help Biden.

What a load of fucking morons.

  • What if a dog was a mail carrier?

Created with Bing Image Creator with the prompt:

dog/human mail carrier standing on rear legs in full uniform with a mail bag across it's body. They are delivering mail to a mailbox in front of a house. Photorealistic

Other interesting pictures from similar prompts:

I really like the last one, but it's more in line with something like bring your pet to work day with the human mail carrier in the background.

  • As god intended! /s

By all means, let's force people through the trauma of knowing their kid will only live at most 16-18 months and will probably bankrupt the family with medical bills.

The cruelty here is off the charts (as the gop intended).

  • Possibly, but this could also easily be, "See? Everyone gets impeached. Not just our guy twice!"

Sure it'll go literally nowhere (the Senate will not convict even if the house actually does impeach him), but now the talking heads will have a response when people call Trump the twice impeached loser from Washington.

  • I thought it was delightful. Captain Marvel felt kind of forced in for Endgame, and her stand alone movie was unfortunately a bit forgettable, but I really liked the fleshing out of her character in this movie.

  • I'm not going to down vote you - some people do like the social experience at work. I just respectfully disagree. I'm at work to make money and to keep my skills sharp - I don't (and have never really) enjoy hanging out with coworkers outside of the normal work related areas.

As a mostly introverted person, work from home has been a godsend. I can focus on communicating with my manager and coworkers in ways that are more comfortable for me - and thus result in a more positive experience for everyone.

Plus the amount of work I get done at home is easily double what I was doing when working from the office 5 days a week.

  • I definitely have a wide range of weird coffee stuff/likes.

I bought the Hario Switch at a crate and barrel (first time ever in that store, but they had it in stock). I mostly picked it up because it's dual purpose unlike pretty much any other coffee thing I have - it'll do both immersive brewing and pour over, and it breaks down for travel fairly easily (I have a little pelican case that holds three brewer, a hand grinder, and filters).

  • Haha, yeah.... As someone in their 40s, I get that.

  • For other beans, I absolutely love CxffeeBlack. Their GujiMane is a winner, but I haven't had a bad roast from them.

If you want to mix things up, look at getting a Hario Switch for an immersive brewer.

  • Absolutely! I refuse to give in because of the risk of what would happen. I just wish we weren't in this situation.

  • If he runs again and loses, I'm not confident that we still won't be fucked. The flat out refusal to recognize losing at all levels will start one hell of a wave of stochastic terrorism.

  • This is the right answer. I have dockerized Calibre and Calibre-Web for initial intake, then use Calibre-Web's OPDS feed with my Moon+ Android app for reading on my tablet/phone.

Calibre handles type conversions, metadata sync, and file organization.

Calibre-Web works well for browser reading on my PC.

  • I had this conversation with my spouse earlier. I don't think we can come back from this insanity. Going back to even Newt Gingrich's (who was an asshole in his own right) era is also out of reach.

I think the only way we come out the other side is if the Republicans destroy themselves (best case) or if they destroy democracy itself (more likely IMO).

As my spouse said, they're like the kids who would rather blow up the toy than share.
