Its funny, I just think I have a thing for the underdogs. So I was always drawn to GOG, their stance on DRM-free gaming and games preservation in general don't hurt though, of course!
Its taken me until now to even really look at Steam, even for my Steam Deck. I will admit, Steam's cloud saves and pre-shader compilation is a blessing to game with.
But, yes, that too. I laughed, so many posts have the title 'rival devices' supporting Steam OS and I just have to wonder...is that what they really think?
Hard to imagine more devices having Steam there, giving Valve that sale-per-game money being a bad thing.
But again, these huge news pieces are done to death by the time I get around to them with my weekly posts. I can't see what I can add, unless I find anything else fun about them!
Oh I know, plenty of big things happened (isn't it lovely how quickly you can go from Game to Desktop Mode now?!)
...but the things I try to share are never those big ones. Everyone sees them, my posts aren't ever meant to be the 'big news items' things - just some that (hopefully) people might miss!
And even more so that you'd trust it would be worth a read purely because my other posts have been a nice read! That is so nice to read - thank you!
I find I check in with Gardiner's blog each day now, I love clean and 'pure' sites and articles where the intention isn't affiliate links or ads, or begging for new Patreon supporters...just the topic at hand!
Sometimes (often) those 'latest' builds don't work so well, and things break. Its a classic problem which plagues EmuDeck, and why long-term users warn people
if things are working, don't update!
That very thing which annoys some people - no bleeding-edge latest updates on emulators, to me is stability and a relief. I trust the devs of RetroDECK to update only when things need it!
And I also have it all on my SD card! Its the best idea, roms, emulators, bios, mods, texture packs. I like how it keeps things organized and clean :)
Not so long! The thing which slows me most is formatting for Lemmy. I've had some recommendations that A.I. could for once be useful and do that part of it for me...but so far I stubbornly do it by hand regardless!
Keep an eye out, I try make them weekly, though in the past it's gone as few as two days between posts (generally though, I try make myself wait and hold off to give it a week between them!) - so there'll be more coming :)
I'm so glad you're getting a Steam Deck, you'll love it! They're easy if you want to just...start installing games without tinkering, or you can dive in and find all kinds of fun things.
...but if you ever have any specific questions, or want help or a guide to anything, reach out to me. I kinda live/breath the Steam Deck - so I'm always happy to help!!!!!!!!
There was talk of a site, but last year-ish someone started taking the designs (which for some was an issue, and for some it was not since they're made using Nintendo's assets after all) and selling them on etsy.
So that site never quite got up and running, with the community fairly divided. GOG has a forum thread for their community made covers, and I think Reddit has a sub for these covers of Nintendo ones, too.
Sadly no central site though, that I know of all least!
And thank you for dropping by and reading through again! I only write these up because of people like you, and because of Lemmy as a whole. So I appreciate you taking the time to enjoy these :)
I know these are 'heavy', but I try my best to break them into sections (*actually, this time I did not do that - typically they're broken into themed sections like 'Switch News', or 'GOG News' etc), and make it a little easier to wade through.
I just love writing them in this way, even if they're not the most convenient. And I do try to 'pretty' them up, too! I'm glad you enjoyed this, there's plenty I've done before it if you're interested in reading others!
I use a few different methods to check it: Jerboa and Thunder apps and then by a few different browsers - none of which ever have any issues! I do know one app (Boost?) had problems with my posts, but the dev of that app very kindly fixed the issue on their end!
Also holds a strange title of the first Sony game to have DRM - but being a game not by Sony, that's the reason it has Denuvo. Sad news all 'round for this one :(
What exactly did you do for them? I'd say its a better thing to dedicate your time to than others, when it comes to volunteering time! Like others, I checked over the jobs listed but it doesn't show if nay are remote, or whether it is strictly for those living in Poland!
Oh that is lucky!!!
Glad it helped!
