  • Oh, I think he can bank on that. What I see is people looking to third parties. I just don't think anything good will come of that.

Personally, I can't honestly threaten to vote against him, but I do understand other people feeling differently, and I definitely wish he'd make it less gross for me.

  • A lot depends on the angle you are heading relative to the wind and how strong and variable the wind is and how easily you want to be able to steer or hold your course.

The simplest case that I think you might be wrong is going down wind, especially in light air, you want the sail to catch the wind like a bag and direct it toward a central point to add all the vague forces into one direction instead of just twisting the sail one way or another. Like I didn't think you actually want the wind hitting the outer edges of the sail straight on as this would just move the sail, not the boat.

Stiff, even hard not cloth sails are useful to go into the wind at a slight angle, where they are optimized in shape like an airplane wing, and they even talk of the force generated as lift.

  • I don't expect Joe Biden to act against his interests, but I also can't believe he thinks this is in his interest! Are there that many people in America who think this is the right thing to do? People danced when Henry Kissinger died, who fails to see the legacy of this?

  • Videos uploaded per year (2017) to pornhub: 4,052,543.

Pieces of content shared on Facebook (2021): 1,700,000/minute

I don't know what pieces of content means, but that's 250,000 times as many things to be moderated each day (1 million times as many "amateur" offerings). Hide a tree in a forest

  • While I agree with you I'm many ways, the fact is my kid with lifelong genetic disorder has had two major surgeries paid for by marketplace insurance with no trouble at all and without pages and pages of medical history we used to have to fill out every time we changed jobs or renewed, which insurance company's could and often did use not only to avoid paying for pre existing things, but also to try to deny any claim or even kick people off insurance for filling out the form wrong.

That one piece was hard won and worth a lot in my opinion, and I don't trust Trump to mess with it. The guy is gonna be bankrupt, why does anyone think he'll be doing anything other than selling the country for cash?

  • Maybe if the price per apple goes up, the grocer takes the money. He can't sell more apples because there aren't any right now and anyway there's still the same number of stomachs, so he puts it in the bank. The bank lends it out at too high interest for the farmer to borrow to plant trees on the off chance he can convince the grocer to stock more apples five years from now.

IANAE but I think the idea is high interest rates prevent supply expansion generally.

  • By itself it is a weird thing to say, like I thought the usual strategy (and apparently the Israelis') is to publicly assume good behavior so they have something to lose.

You can say this situation is different, but still the only use for that kind of speculation is to emotionally load support for Israel (which is already high), and it may certainly further endanger the hostages, regardless of gender.

  • I'm thinking it's great for poor people, but it's much more useful for the wealthy who make bigger single purchases that can be scheduled, so the state loses more potential revenue from the top. Though, I just checked and they seem to exclude higher prices items from the holiday, so my fears are unfounded.

  • McCarthy also gave a vague hint about his future plans: “I look forward to helping entrepreneurs and risk-takers reach their full potential.”

“The challenges we face are more likely to be solved by innovation than legislation,” he wrote.

    Technocratic venture capital?

  • But doesn't it mean that people who can time their big purchases escape paying? I'm thinking yachts and cars and luxury stuff. I guess it depends on the state how much of the revenue comes from that. Interesting the effect on municipal revenue. I had never heard of it.
