  • Not the heroes we deserve, but the ones we need.

Would be great to see some major distros shipping with KDE by default. Fedora e.g. had this idea a little while ago.

  • There are some Raspi competitors offering SBCs with RISC-V chips, there is even a RISC-V Mainboard for the framework laptops, but the last time I checked they sadly didn't reach the performance levels of comparable ARM chips.

  • Switched from a raspberry pi 3 to a second hand x86 thin client (lenovo thinkcentre m920q) because raspberry pi 4 were not available at the time. Made me learn proxmox and a bunch of other cool stuff my raspi couldn't handle.

I'm rooting for ARM / RISC-V to become more popular in desktop computing / servers though.

  • I have thought so as well for a long time, but i think at this point we would benefit more from contributions to existing clients like heroic, enabling achievements or further work / native reimplementation of the savegame syncing.

  • I have a suspicion that this isn't even about culture or revenue anymore. It's about control.

  • There's a cliché about lesbian women taking forever in bed to pleasure each other when dating, sometimes all day, compared to men taking 5 minutes of piv to cum and thus leaving women unsatisfied.

I'm a heterosexual man though, so take that knowledge with a grain of salt lol.

  • I have the same setup, you have to add the line Environment="HSA_OVERRIDE_GFX_VERSION=10.3.0" for that specific GPU to the ollama.service file

  • I was just trying to say that i hope that the creators of custom roms will still be able to do their work, which i don't take for granted. Google doesn't make their money with the phones themselves but with the data they get from the os thats running on them.

  • I wonder what this will mean for custom roms. Mediatek are among the only chipsets with available microcode and therefor e.g. supported by OpenWRT, which gives me hope.

  • NFS Unbound wasn't taken too well by the community. I recently replayed NFS Heat (which was the release before unbound) and it is still a great modern NFS game!

  • I hope so as well, as Valve is one of the few companies left these days not consisting of shareholder imbeciles.

  • You forgot

    • MS buys all the competition
    • MS kills said companies they bought before so everyone has to use their half assed shit product
  • I am on Fedora as well and have used the microsoft wireless dongle with the medisalix/xone kernel module in the past, but i stopped using it since it had me pull and plug the dongle once every while to make it work again.

Nowadays i just use bluetooth (with my xbox one and xbox series x controller). You actually don't need any additional packages for that. Three things to consider about this:

    • You possibly have to upgrade the controller firmware with an atrocious app on a windows machine
    • pairing is a nightmare (needed an hour for one controller always trying until the pairing completed)
    • You need to set some bluetooth settings in a config file for Bluetooth LE timings since the microsoft team thought it would be funny to not let the controller advertise the right configurations.

All that said, once paired and configured it just works (TM). Feel free to reach out if you need further information.

  • Thats what I noticed as well. I think it was about three cancels at every menu point.

    • You can remove the search bar (which was the only thing bugging me about the "original")
    • changing icon and font sizes, shapes, font families, ...
    • actions for screen double tapping ("lock screen" is what i use)
    • is open source
  • To me this is a feels like a full blown release as I've been using the beta, alpha, the builds on a fork of one of the maintainers github fork, ... All of them with very few issues.

  • That was honestly the only thing i needed from a launcher when i got my pixel 6a two years ago, but there is so much more to it as i later discovered. All the tweaking that is possible on top of the (very good) pixel launcher, which it was built upon but had this one flaw.

  • You could also try to write modular software and use standardized interfaces to prevent vendor lock in. Haha who am i kidding...
