  • Seattleite here - the interstate wasnt "shut down" and rallying cries on a small section of I-5 arent really even that audible a few blocks away. they're lucky no one got run over like a few years ago when other idiots thought that protesting on the Interstate was a good idea.

  • vinegar pickles or pickled foods? lactofermented foods are technically pickles and I've seen quite a bit of pickled meat. pickling is a food preservation method, you dont need high levels of sodium, though it certainly helps.

  • it depends on the person, their role/job, and the business itself.

when I work in the office, I have to spend 2 to 3 hours commuting there and back. when I'm at the office, some days I'm busy all day, other days there's nothing to do.

when I'm working from home, I have zero commute. I have more control over my work, and if there's nothing to do then I can do something else, from the comfort of my own home.

I'm actually "working" now, but today is slow. nothing to do for a few hours from what I can tell. I may have some tasks this afternoon though. fortunately, I am at home today.

  • many asian nations have the same problem - they have a large aging population. old people are less likely to work, less likely to be a reliable tax-base. old people require a lot of care - and that costs. it costs money, time, and resources - a young person caring for an old person is a young person not in the factory making products.

hence the desire to have a +% in population growth. without that, in ~30 to 40 years, China will lose about half of it's population. most asian countries are in the same boat. Japan has it even worse since they modernized earlier/faster.
