  • So Trump's reaction to the largest terrorist attacks the world has ever seen outside of 9/11 is to call a terrorist organization "very smart?"

Not surprising, given that he called Putin "very smart" for attacking Ukraine, or that he celebrated on 9/11 that now his buildings were the highest ones in New York.

That second one also happened to be a lie, but it shows were his priorities lie in the light of large scale terrorism and murder of civilians. Certainly not with the victims.

  • If it’s better to just import Israelis to the nation they went there from that’s fine too.

Israel is full of people who were born there, who have never lived anywhere else, and - as the recent anti-Netanyahu protests have shown - want their nation to be a free, open, democratic society.

I don't see how deporting them to a county they've never even been to and giving their land to somebody else is any different than what was done to Palestinians in the creation of the state of Israel.

I would prefer solutions to look at the current status, as it exists today, and seek a solution that minimizes suffering for everyone involved - regardless of the history of how we arrived at this situation, and certainly without using that history to justify even more suffering.

This is not a pro-Isreal or pro-Palestinian position, by the way.

  • they implied the root comment was saying that two things couldn't be bad or only one could be solved.

I don't agree with that interpretation.

They simply stated that ranking things by "badness" also implies a ranking in terms of which one of those bad things is more urgent and should be addressed first - not that one thing was bad and that the other wasn't, or that only one thing could be addressed.

  • How long are we, as a society, going to allow shit like this in the name of free speech?

It feels that those nations that experienced the Nazi terror of the Third Reich have a much better idea of what constitutes dangerous speech.

Allowing this kind of stochastic terrorism out of some misguided notion of "free speech" is just not a good idea.

  • The likely Republican candidate for president is a convicted fraudster and known rapist who tried to install himself as dictator and is currently facing 91 criminal charges - and the GOP is celebrating him as their savior.

    That's the answer.

The entire party is rotten to the core.

  • Once I saw that Google wasn't going to honor steam library on stadia

That is such a weird complaint.

Google doesn't own Steam. Google has nothing to do with Steam. Why would Google give you free games just because you purchased those same games on a competing platform?

Are you also complaining that Sony isn't honoring your Steam library on the PlayStation? Are you complaining that Microsoft isn't honoring the Steam library on the XBox?

Heck, are you complaining that Steam isn't honoring the Nintendo Switch library on the Steam Deck?

    I mean: what gives?

  • Wow.

You're linking an entire long and insightful article that precisely explains why the number of representatives was capped and that never once mentions that it was because of physical office space - and yet your takeaway is that it was capped because America ran out of office space for its representatives.

Maybe you should work on your reading comprehension?

  • Mate, we got our representation capped because we ran out of space....

BS. Representation got capped because capping it benefited those in power.

It's easy to allocate more representative to more seats, it's easy to allocate more office space to more representatives - even if it's not necessarily in the same building.

This issue has come up in a multitude of nations, and everyone has managed to solve this puzzle - and you expect people to believe that "the greatest nation on earth" can't do it, because there's apparently a finite amount of fucking office space in America??
