  • Awe, your first time? It only hurts a little bit.

We'll have better luck if we push for systemic change with things like RCV, term limits and overturning citizens united. Otherwise we'll always be stuck between a rock and a fascist place, and we don't want to choose the fascist place accidentally.

  • Seems like a cool idea but, so far with Gemini on my Pixel, I hate that I can't tell what's on device and what's in the cloud and I ended up uninstalling it. I'm not sure Google needs to know more about me than they already do.

Supposedly the phone can run local models but I've only seen it in the recorder app, which isn't really that useful, especially after all of the hype around Tensor, AICore and Gemini Nano.

  • That's great that your employer takes those extra precautions on your behalf but I'm not sure it's practical on a large scale. It sounds expensive and ineffective.

I have children in elementary school and we all get sick a few times a year and test every time we do. We're all vaccinated and boosted as many times as we're allowed and we haven't had Covid since early 2022, which was the first time. We also all test every time we go see an immune compromised family member.

I'm not necessarily advocating that we all do nothing, I just believe we all need to navigate the risk for ourselves and our families. There are things we can do as individuals, but there is nothing we can do as a society except monitor the situation. As long as the hospital system is safe, this is an individual problem.

  • I'm considering buying one but lately I've been thinking about maybe getting a Mustang because the BlueCruise seems more honest. However, Ford doesn't seem super committed to electric and it's all hard to justify when my Honda just won't die.

  • If you're saying "We'd like better behaviour out of the Dems, but no way do we want Trump in office," I'll never have beef with you.

This is what I'm trying to say but I think the time to get them to listen is now. The threat of Trump looms regardless. Everyone knows who he is and no thinking person will vote for him. I have been voting for more years than a lot of lemmings have been alive and I'm tired of picking the lesser of two evils again and again. If we keep giving everyone a pass I don't believe we will ever get what we want because there is always another threat.

  • Yes, but can the hospital system handle it? We have these spikes just before school every year and there is not necessarily a huge spike in the excess death rate. Most people have antibodies now and the body will still recognize it with these mutations.

  • It's not misleading if I provide a date in the body, one is provided in the article/blog and the candidate totally said all of that. I'm not allowed to change the title, so how am I otherwise supposed to compensate for a lack of reading comprehension?
