  • I was just watching Tenet last night and the music kind of took me out of it sometimes because I was like, “Fuck, that music sounds awesome”, though not sure how well it will stand on its own, I’ve not tried that yet.

  • I don’t particularly care about them and they seem mostly useless at my company. We don’t have any onsite HR reps that I know of, everything is more or less done electronically with them, and we end up performing most of the “normal” HR functions within our dept by ourselves. The only reason I know HR even exists is because we have to fill out our own performance reviews every year and we have these dumb SMART goals they make us do, which are the bane of my existence.

  • These people are enemies of democracy and this kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated. If you’re trying to disrupt the voting process, you should be arrested and banned from any political office. Protesting policies you don’t like is one thing, but it should never get to the point where you’re preventing other people from casting their vote.

  • I used to be able to remember my dreams, or at the very least I would wake up with a sensation that I had had a dream, but anymore though I just feel like a blank slate, like nothing happened. If I dream anymore I’m completely losing them because I don’t even have the feeling that I’m forgetting anything, it’s just blank when I sleep now.

  • I just blocked them, as I seem to have regularly anytime a new community shows up that isn’t English and/or isn’t useful. That whoischic.com is even bad because the pictures aren’t even particularly good, they’re just some bad paparazzi pics of celebrities just out trying to live their lives in unflattering clothing.

  • You might try finding a classroom or area that isn’t being used on a consistent basis. So maybe the band practice area or an arts/crafts class or library or some place, you may want to check with a teacher beforehand. It can be hard with school though, depending on how locked down they have you. For myself personally when I was in school 20+ years ago, I was able to retreat into myself with headphones and music, I was able to block everyone around me out no matter where I was at. Sometimes you can even just walk the halls, walking by itself has been my go-to therapy methods, just walk away and get a change of scenery for awhile. Everyone needs mental health breaks if things are getting overwhelming.

Also, remember that school essentially stops mattering after you get out. Yes, it’s important to graduate and get a diploma, but you’re likely to rarely see those same people ever again after you graduate. I’m 43 and I still have days like that where it feels like no one cares, and I’ve got a partner with kids, it’s tough sometimes.

  • Yeah, I think there’d be the initial shock of it, but we’ve been pretty well primed as a society for the idea that, yes, life probably exists and it may already be here. So if it turned out they were just communicating with governments, it’d be like, “Oh, so they’re not even here? Huh, that’s… cool… I guess.” Communications would likely only ever come in every few years, so it’d more just be a matter of us having received a signal from intelligent life. Still be cool though, but shrugs would be the general response.

  • That's literally the only reason I signed up for Instagram, but over half of my feed has become wholesome videos of people doing arts & crafts, woodworking, cooking, animals, inspiring vignettes, graphic design hacks, and bunch of other things. As cool as those other things are, I just wanted to see boobies.

And one of the weirdest things about Instagram, is that nudity is banned UNLESS the woman is breastfeeding (and a few other scenarios). So this seems to have spawned a weird sort of genre of what appears to be breastfeeding porn, women who are posting nude videos of themselves while breastfeeding, specifically to get around the nudity ban. It's kind of weird and exploitative, I don't really understand why it's allowed (except for educational purposes, but these videos don't seem to meet that bar). It's like, showing breasts is offensive because kids might be able to see nudity and we don't want kids seeing nude women... unless we film the nudity with kids in it, then that magically makes it ok.
