  • We absolutely won the war on terror in Afghanistan.

Osama bin Laden tried to show that he was the scariest terrorist, and the US military took that personally and wasn't willing to give up the crown. So, for a decade before his death, and a decade after, we spent trillions of dollars to make sure that a bunch of nice, lovely shepherds would shit themselves with fear if they're at a wedding or funeral and hear the sound of an airplane in the distance.

The goal was to make the most terror right? Did I move the goalposts enough that the US still wins?

  • I find that when you know how to use Github, Github is pretty easy and close to perfect for what it is, a code repository.

I think that most people who stumble across a Github link through a Google search, probably like in the original post, want to treat it like an app store. The read.me is the description, so they can tell it kind of does what they need, but they're missing a big, green download and install button.

  • The problem with github isn't really a problem. It's just accessible enough to borderline tech people who want a one click solution to a problem. They can find it, but using it requires more skill than they have. It's a code repository, not an app store. The most useful things I find on github aren't from some massive app developer, they're from some guy who happened to have the same problem as me. Rather than screaming at that guy for an executable, level up. Learn something.

  • As a Tolkien fan and someone who hates voting for octagenarians, this post triggers me more than I'd like to admit.

Equating the upcoming election to this isn't a choice between Saruman and Gandalf, it's between Saruman and Sauron, but instead of picking either of those guys, you pick Aragorn, who Gandalf really likes.

So what we should do, instead of voting for either, is ask Gandalf Bernie Sanders who he'd like to be president and vote for that guy.

Also, the whole "line of kings is broken" portion of this joke feels way to close to an RFK Jr. joke for my taste. The man's insane.

  • Yeah, but to 70 million people watching Fox News tonight, Luke Skywalker, who worked for the woke, child-grooming, deepstate, communist Disney coporation, is a socialist libtard. It's going to be a global headline and breaking news.

  • This is it. The 2nd string tight end was in for that play and whiffed on the block that led to the fumble. Kelce was screaming "Leave me in, leave me in," which is a fair point because he's a monster blocker. I'd give the edge to Kittle for blocking, but still really good.

  • I really liked the side quests though. It felt like every single one involved going to a cave, finding out the NPC's friend/relative was dead, and then report back. It definitely didn't get old after the first dozen or so.

Also, the Merlin trials were great. Hundreds of locations, but only like 6 different puzzles.

I haven't played a game where the devs copy/pasted that much in a while.

  • It does make a waffle sandwich. They aren't bad.

But, it takes about 10 minutes to cook, then 5 minutes to get hot enough to make another. So if you're just making it for yourself, it's fine. But if you're wanting to make them for like more than 2 people, it's a problem.

  • The fact that ads are so intolerable is the problem. I understand that much of the internet being free is because of ads. But we went from the early days of the internet where ads were malicious, active annoyances to the modern internet where ads are malicious, passive annoyances. Clicking on an ad no longer ruins my afternoon with a virus, but it does log and sell my data to the highest bidder. Nearly every ad on the internet is in bad faith.

Until we have better ads, I will block absolutely everything I can.

  • On some Boeing aircraft, the nose wheel will actually come off when the autopilot system overcompensates during takeoff and crashes the plane straight into the ground. There were aome small news stories about it a few years back.

  • I feel like wokeness in general requires empathy and understanding of the plight of others. Anti-woke means being unempathetic, and folks feel that is positive? I literally can't comprehend being for Team Sociopath, but millions of people will vote for Trump, so it's real.
