  • They must have really bitten their tongues to avoid the word "cult".

The best medical advice I can give is to disregard medical advice from religious people.

Also: Only six days to finish the job? They probably did more than just withold insulin. I would have thought hyperglycemia (and probably ketoacidosis) wouldn't hit so hard. This takes diabetic mismanagement to new levels.

  • I've never complained about being behind a car that's doing the speed limit in the right lane. In fact, they're ideal because your get there in the fastest possible time using the least possible fuel.

A car in the rightmost lane doing the speed limit – by definition – cannot be an obstruction.

What pisses me off is cars with overreading speedos that think they're doing the speed limit. Everyone should check theirs. 100% of new cars are wrong.

I'd happily sit on 130 if that's the posted speed. That's about 4500RPM in top gear for me... which is probably not the best for economy.

  • I self-host and my server runs at about 3% of what my aircons consume on a summer day.

It's just one CPU, a PoE switch and some spinning drives. There seems to be an awful lot of waste in computing these days. Just don't do wasteful things on the server like VMs, containers and desktops.

  • You don't engage with them. Don't file complaints. You don't publicly announce your hate for them on social media. Don't "build up to it" with petty crimes.

You keep your nose clean. Go to school. Get a job. Keep your invasive thoughts to yourself. Live a normal life.

Then one day, you can execute a CEO in the street and nobody will be around to stop you. Go straight to a 5-star wanted level and run.

  • We need email. It's one of the few protocols that are 100% in the user's control. I run my own mail server. I can't do the same for whatsapp.

We've added a lot of checks to email (SSL, DKIM, DMARC, SPF) so it's very easy to identify spam these days. It's also easy to avoid giving any two companies the same email address. That's something much harder to avoid with a phone number.

For 2FA, per-account email addresses and authenticor apps are the best approach for privacy.

  • Australia has a "do not call register". It seems to mostly work, but telcos are having trouble with calls originating from outside the network with spoofed caller ID. We still get spam/scam calls from India among other places.

Even if they're not calling you directly, they are still using your phone number to link you to things and create a shadow profile behind the scenes.

  • A plan like this would actually work if it were capped at the same price as an unlimited plan.

It never is though. Once I was lucky enough to exploit 1TB from a $70/month 5GB plan back in the days that my ISP didn't offer anything competitive. I ran that hustle for years.
