  • I normally don't go for two-tone cabinets, but you've brought this together really well--the vent area wood tying in with the countertops is great, and the colors all compliment each other well. I'm hoping to redo my kitchen soon, and if mine ends up half as nice as this, I'll be content. Great work, enjoy it!

  • Yeah, that's the "put down and exclude" part. The thing is, though, is that the transphobes don't believe it's because they want to ruin trans folks' lives. In fact, they believe they're doing the Right Thing™. Pressuring people to stay closeted is something they're definitely attempting to do, but they genuinely believe it's for everyone's benefit, even the trans folks (again, this is irrational). They don't take pleasure from the pain and discomfort they cause (at least not consciously), they take pleasure from feeling righteous.

  • No. They should be considering this, given that plenty of trans men look like large and intimidating men (because they are), and they'll be forced to use womens' restrooms if the TERFs had their way.

Ultimately, the restroom issue is only superficial. TERFs (and other bigots) will pick issues like this, but they don't actually care about the issues they're yelling about. What they really care about is keeping their privilege and their sense of superiority. And that requires having a "them" group to put down and exclude, to clutch their pearls around.

So when you see irrational takes like the restroom thing, remember that it's irrational because it's not actually important to them (though they themselves likely don't realize that).

  • For an extra charge, the employee will give you the authentic smell by wiping their ass with one of the slices of bread.

  • I don't know that it was ever as much like that--I think the earlier adopters of those technologies were more like that, and as the general public gained interest and increased usage, the trend swung the other way. Remember in 2005 when owning a mac device basically initiated you into a cult? Apple stores were set up like sanctuaries where people came to worship.

  • If you feel most familiar with Debian, I recommend looking at Mint. It has great compatibility and is otherwise easy to use, and it handles GPUs well (including Nvidia). In terms of hardware, I'll agree with the others here--used is the way to go, you'll get a lot more for your money than buying new.

That being said, you can also look for clearance and/or refurbished PCs. This one would probably be powerful enough.

  • Ah... cheese folk, huh? You can join Canada too, as long as you leave those processed plastic sheets behind.

  • Can confirm, lived in Michigan over a decade. Yoopers are more Canadian than most Canadians.

  • +1 for Clone High. I still quote it regularly.

  • I did the front-end program on freecodecamp.org a bunch of years ago, it was decent. The challenging part about finding what you're looking for is that Javascript is used in both the front and back ends (and in a number of other places). Courses in JS will usually focus on backend (node.js is common), but it sounds like you're looking for a basic front-end course.

Also note that "integrating front end with back end" is complicated and depends largely on the backend itself. In the free code camp course, I did some calls to APIs from the frontend, which I think is what you're asking.

In any case, check out the Full Stack course on freecodecamp.org (specifically what you're asking about is covered in the "DOM Manipulation and Events" section).

  • Ah, your emotional support tabs. Carry on.

  • What kind of gameplay do you have in mind? I'm guessing a puzzle-type game (like a room escape), but you could honestly do a number of different things (tower defense? Platformer?).

I think the answer to your original question largely depends on this. Did you have anything else in mind about the experience?

  • Where do they come from, fedi-bot Joe?

  • "Wisdom pursues you, but you've managed to outrun it."

    or

"Wow, it must have taken all three of your brain cells to come up with that."
