Republicans (conservatives, generally) have limited empathy. Relatively few people will ever have the need to seek an abortion as a percentage of the population - only half are even eligible. The lack of empathy means they do not consider that it is a problem for them until it actually happens to them. For the base it's a litmus test which allows the candidate to do or say almost anything and still guarantee a vote; for the rest who have never had to seek or don't expect to need to seek an abortion, it's a non-issue and they can cite more (American) moderate right policies like lower taxes and less regulation as their driving force.

The obvious first step is revocation and personal barring for life every single person who participated in the communication from holding a SEC license. The second is jail time for anyone who did it willfully. The third is revocation of their corporation or, in the interest of stockholders who are about to become personally liable, a 50 year probationary period in which revocation of corporation is automatic should any other infraction come to light.

Revocation of corporate status. A corporation is a status set out in US law. No corporate status, no legal protection for officers or shareholders. All liability falls personally and directly on the owners.

Most of the things you say are missing are installed by default, though some require you to know how to use the command line. Which reminds me…how do you install the Netflix app on Linux? I’d like to watch some shows on my new laptop while I’m on the train.

Current power demand worldwide could be satisfied with around 115k sq miles of conventional panels. That’s around the size of Arizona or Bulgaria - which is a lot, but also a minuscule amount compared to the earths surface. There’s little need to put panels on the ocean, and it also puts the generation remote from most of the energy usage.

Interesting. VAC is one of many problems I hope will be in upcoming headsets. Meta was working on this about 4 years ago and is in the prototype stage for both high res and varifocal accommodations. It would be interesting to compare the patents and the differing approaches to the problem.

So we offer them the Russian treatment. Bar all foreign investment, monetary exchange, trade, governmental data transfer, and travel to/from/through western countries. Freeze all foreign assets. If Russia is their savior, let Russia save them.

Many of their services are quite good. Their management and business operations have been turned to utter shit (for consumers). They've been told they need to make more money every quarter and they've run out of easy things to make money on, so they're now looking at their entire catalog with the sole focus of revenue generation and profit growth rather than merely being an impactful internet resource which is sustainably profitable.
