How messed up is the US that universal health care is fear-mongering?
But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I used to have an American boss who felt like she needed to convince me to leave the hell-hole country I was living in. I live in Europe in one of the World's safest, most democratic, wealthiest countries. And this was during the W. Bush era. I bet she became a full MAGA trumpist.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the coms gear. Unlike Russian troops relying on cell phone towers during the invasion (while simultaneously knocking the towers down). The EW gear would make it even harder for an already ill-equipped and disorganized defense force to coordinate.
And I bet Ukraine is getting some nice up-to-date intel from NATO assets (satellites, SIGINT, HUMINT...) which helps them decide where to attack and when to evade.
The Russian (and the Soviet) army was never great at maneuver warfare. That requires field autonomy from commanders. Autocrats can't keep a strong, smart, well-trained and somewhat autonomous army since they always fear coups.
That's why historically Russia has been victorious by obliterating cities via massed artillery and air bombardment. This doesn't work so well unless the enemy stays put or assaults your fortified lines.
I wonder what Ukraine's long-term game is with Kursk, taking territory this way they proved they can but keeping it is a whole other story. It certainly keeps their enemy off-balance and forces them to spread while making them look even weaker.
5.56mm is a very tiny bullet. The damage would come from traveling very fast, which is very bad when it hits a fleshy mass.
Thankfully (for Trump and perhaps for America not turning him into a MAGA martyr) the ear isn't very fleshy so the bullet didn't impart much energy. He certainly had plastic surgery to fix the tiny hole.
Personally, I much prefer to watch Trump deflate and be crushed under the support of Harris and Walz.
You make good points but some people are knew jerking on Firefox's AI. One of them is client side translation which is really neat as I don't need to send the content to some Google ad data vacuum.
Another AI model helps differently abled people to have websites described to them using, again, a local model.
There is also Libtefox which uses the same rendering engine without the other stuff if you don't want it.
I consider it an important act to use non Chromium browsers as not to completely hand over the power of rendering web content to Google.
The link between conspiracies and ads is way stronger than that. The ad industry really went into high gear following WWII when the people working on pumping out propaganda to drive their own side of the war stepped up the game by applying psychology, new media, and a bigger budget.
Those people and techniques then moved to the commercial market when the war ended and applied their trade to peddle us the crap their customers wanted to sell. Make us feel bad if we don't buy product X and go on an endless consumption treadmill to try to feel good and adequate about ourselves.
It is despicable and even worse with ads targeting children.
Oh and he overpaid because he wanted the per-stock purchase stock to have the "420" gag. So instead of paying $53 per stock, he paid $54.20. That's a total of $150 million more for a stupid joke.
Maduro is a buddy of Putin which links him with Trump. They aren't buddies per se but between the propaganda coup for Maduro and Putin, they'll probably greet Trump with open arms. Imagine Russia hosting Trump in Venezuela and giving a bullhorn to continue stiring shit up in the US:
Ah yes, "safe" and "freedom-loving" Venezuela where the autocrat just stole the elections.
Maduro and his friend Putin would milk this to no end. I'm surprised Putin didn't choose Russia but Venezuela has lovely weather so he can continue golfing while staying in the Russian sphere of influence.
How about his MAGA fans follow him there when the Republicans lose the next elections? (Sorry Venezuela)
Not scary: some people were vaporized leaving only a shadow, others badly burned as the painting shows, people were maimed and amputated by the blast, and a big part of the city was blown and burned down. Plus the poor souls who would die horribly from acute radiation poisoning over the following days.
And let's not forget those nuclear weapons were some of the very first ever made. Modern atomic weapons can range from Hiroshima-size to turning a mountain into a radioactive lake range. Thankfully no hydrogen bomb has even been used in anger because that would be a completely different level of horror (and likely the trigger to the end of human civilization).
Many nuclear powers have policies to fire nukes on warning. That means they would shoot back even before the enemy nuke hits them. Shoot when the nukes are confirmed to be incoming.
Republicans love to regularly talk down the World-ending horror that would be using atomic weapons in war. During Bush Jr.'s "war on terror" they were already talking about using bunker-buster nukes and tried to diminish the well-deserved stigma of nuclear weapons.
Renaming them atomic weapons "Musk bombs" sounds hilariously misguided.
And nothing says "love thy neighbor" like racial supremacism.
Their white supremacist, conservative, hateful, supply-side Jesus is weird. I'm an atheist but I much prefer the hippie, anti-materialist, socialist, anti-establishment Jesus I was grew up hearing about.
Especially coming from the party of "we want to control every aspect of your private life".
They want to judge people's sex life? Well, we're going to make fun of theirs.
Otherwise what happens between a man and his couch would otherwise be none of my business (unless I'm offered to sit on said couch, then I would really like to some warning).
The ultimate twist on the "casting couch" cliché.
