  • The survey question seems to make it seem like it's referring to original hardware, but I imagine a lot of respondents didn't limit it that way.

With emulation being common even officially these days (NSO, emulated games on Steam, etc), I think it's fair to factor that in as well.

  • I've been told by admin at a few different institutions that DEI helps bring more white students into the institution.

They could put limits on international students (which also means limiting money coming into the school and into the country), but going purely based on merit means that Asian students would be pushing out white Americans.

  • FWIW, this was the same thing that homophobes were doing to gay people.

It's not based in evidence or logic.

Could be that phenomenon (illusory correlation?) where there are a few rare examples of someone who is [sexual minority aka. gay/trans] is also a pedophile, and that particular example of a crime becomes prolific...but the general population doesn't have any experience with [sexual minority] people. So they assume that being [sexual minority] means you also have pedophilic tendencies because that's the only connection they know thanks to that prolific crime.

  • Very different experiences here, but I'm seeing a lot of sites I recognize. I was pre-4Chan, but browsed SomethingAwful and Neopets at different points in my life.

Also lots of Pokemon sites. And GameFAQs of course.

  • I use the Voyager app which allows replying to a post from the Home page. Reading the body of a post is optional.

As well, I'm pretty sure it's a rule of the community that a post title must end in a question mark. Thankfully, post titles can be edited on Lemmy!

  • With the API changes, I became read-only (without an account) on Reddit.

I now skim the communities that don't really exist here.

... it's actually saved me a lot of time now that I can't (and thus don't feel the need to) debate local politics with morons anymore!

... unless and until they come to Lemmy.

  • Ur-Quan Masters (aka. Star Control 2)

But, it's not really abandoned anymore. The developers are FINALLY making an official sequel!

    The sequel

The sequel is not open source, but UQM/SC2 is.

This happened in the early 2000s, but I think they found the source code to a port of the game and said "We haven't earned any money from sales of this game in a decade [and buying digital games wasn't really a thing yet, as people generally believed that anything digital shouldn't have a price], so let's release this to the community to open source as long as they do all the reverse porting and support!"

  • Oh dear...

I don't even understand how that would get past even the first couple of people using it. I imagine the idea was that they'd copy/paste the value into the password field. But did nobody ever paste the password into somewhere other than a password field and realize, "Hey, I can see this password!"...even accidentally?

  • Lmao...

The client needs it as a table. Excel does tables, so this is the best way.

Maybe they even locked the cells to prevent downloading the images (but not screenshots lol)? (I'm trying to be generous here)
