I fixed it. It was 15 million projected in the first year, 2.2 million preorders. But I think that point still stands. The Deck has been out for a few years now.
I have a crackpot theory that I enjoy for the sake of enjoying it. What if our “soul” or “consciousness” is the collapse of the quantum field. Our decisions moment to moment aren’t random chance, but the unspeakable thing.
Again, pure speculation, but it’s a lot more satisfying and rewarding to live by than throwing moral responsibility to the universe.
Just another 8-10 years before we get to play it guys!
Seriously, though. I don’t know how you one-up the first game. I’ve been replaying it and I’m just constantly in awe at the number of hidden little gems to go explore.
I just found out the text messages you get from Club Riot are for actual events in world and not just flavor text. I haven’t dug into it, but it almost sounded like they had multiple sets of music for the different artists. Just so many little details.
I hate to say it, but if MS released a competitor, it will probably outsell the Deck 5:1 regardless of quality, if only because of the advertising reach. Your average non-gamer has never heard of Steam. Everyone and their grandmother know MS and would therefore be more willing to get one for their kid.
Edit: I suppose I should explain a bit. People here are comparing Steam DAUs to console DAUs. That’s not the same as sales.
All of those users are already playing on a computer. Also, many of the most popular games on Steam I are free and low-spec. A lot of Steam users are not spenders.
Compare the 3.7 million Deck sales to the 2.2 million Switch 2 preorders (and the 150 million Switch 1 sales) before it even hit shelves. You can’t even buy a Deck in a store and you won’t see an ad for one. If MS makes a handheld, they’ll have billions at their disposal in advertising.
It took me until this year to realize the port and starboard referred to what the ship was touching when docked. The left side goes to the port, the other side faces the stars.
I felt so dumb that I had completed Black Flag 3 times and never picked up on this.
I saw this demo for the first time with an HDR display and I’ve still yet to come across content that pops like this. I wish everything looked this good.
I drop it often on the carpet by my couch, but outside of that, a couple times a year at most. I’ve only ever had a hairline crack on one phone out of many over the years. I also don’t use a case or screen protector.
I am so glad I got out of IT before AI hit. I don’t know how I would have handled customer calls asking why our chat is telling them their shit works when it doesn’t or to cover their computer in cooking oils or whatever.
And only after they banged their head against the AI for two hours and are already pissed will they reach someone. No thanks.
The thing I use Mac for primarily is music production. Garage Band is very approachable and free if you’re just getting started. Both Linux and Windows struggle to perform as well as MacOS does in this regard.
I’ve been seeing the trend recently where now anything bad with uncanny valley elements must be AI. It’s just as much of a thought killer as blindly enjoying AI. This example was easy to confirm and before making an accusation, they just went “I should add doubt to the validity of the context for the sake of it.”
