  • I think they mean the free market? I'm a bit confused on that too, especially consider Bushnell was an anarchist..

  • Bushnell did post things online. His facebook is https://www.facebook.com/aaron.bushnell.94, but from what I can tell his final message ("Many of us like to ask ourselves, 'What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?' The answer is, you're doing it. Right now.") is deleted.

There are several Bushnell quotes scattered throughout, like "be complicit in genocide", from some of his last spoken words: "My name is Aaron Bushnell, I am an active-duty member of the United States Air Force and I will no longer be complicit in genocide". And when it says "No, he clearly stated" in the article, what follows is a quote directly from the mouth of Bushnell. Bushnell had an active Twitch channel, in which he among other things streamed his self-immolation, and during that he says a number of things, like "I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonisers, it's not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal."

  • The prolific posting alone couldn't be one person with other activities in their life like eating food or sleeping.

Over the course of 4 years, they've posted 5.6k times (comments and posts). That's less than 4 posts per day (5.6k/1500). Especially with posts like this, where it's just a link and a title, that's a totally reasonable time commitment. That's like an hour tops of posting, probably a lot less because, no offense yogthos, it's mostly not effort posts.

  • i've been saying this for years, ubuntu = bad. Use literally anything else (except Windows lol), no other major distro comes with Snap pre-installed.

  • They talk about using AI to "measure online toxicity and harassment", but the only details they give on the results of those measurements are that Tankies "post antisemitic content targeting Jews."

They put that right next to a link that says "The current Israeli or pro-Zionist explanation of this extraordinary phenomenon is that anti-Zionism is just another metamorphosis of antisemitism and should be treated and fought against as such. This explanation is certainly valid".

Edit: Downloaded the epub from annas, it's wild

  • "The relentless support for authoritarian governments"

  • The term critical support is not mentioned even once

  • I also note how they start by talking about the intervention in Hungary, but don't mention Khrushchev's involvement, then later use Tankie's bashing Khrushchev as an example of their extremism.

  • oml, one of the quotes mentioned

  • "when it comes to everyday societal challenges that are usually points of interest for the left wing—like policing, climate change, healthcare, housing, and workers’ rights—tankies seem less engaged"

  • No mention of Hexbear?

  • You could use waypipe with wayland. There's also a RemoteDesktop xdg-portal, but it's implementation is a bit spotty

  • Last year I had ~370 contributions on Github, and some unknown number on other platforms (email, gitlab, project specific gitlab instance, etc.). I've very sadly dropped off as of late.

  • A minimum of weekly, when I get a good streak going several times a day.

  • hyprland is definitely going to be my next compositor

  • damn, that sucks. I've installed Linux on 10 personal computers so far, from phones to servers, and I actually haven't had too many issues. Then again, I've never needed RDP and the only computers with NVIDIA graphics are the servers, which are headless.

  • Suggesting The Rose of Versailles? Unfathomably based

  • I gave two definitions, the English one and the one for アニメ. The second definition is for context, it's not like we're speaking Japanese. Animesque isn't a definition of anime, it's very explicitly not anime, and includes a wide variety of cartoons from The Boondocks to Teen Titans.

I'm annoyed because you're wrong. Take for example The Rose of Versailles, who's main character I have as my name, pfp, and banner on this site. For the majority of the show, she's an adult. She takes part in the French Revolution while she's in her 30's.

Or lets look at the 10 highest grossing Anime films. It has two teen romances, two fantasy actions films, a sports film, a fantasy film with anti-war themes, two fantasy adventure films, and two Ghibli films that are a bit harder to classify, Pony and Spirited Away. Only three of them have romantic overtones, and none have any sexual characteristics.

Adjusted for inflation, the highest grossing live action film is Gone with the Wind, which features a 16 year old about to get married, marital rape, civil war myths, and black stereotypes.

Give Howl's Moving Castle a watch, it's in that top 10 (it's the anti-war one!), and it's quite good.
