  • Is that true though? I used to be a major lurker, but now I post relatively often. I think having other people post about stuff you care about, rather than just screenshots of other websites, can be a big factor.

  • Lemmy.world, probably, given everything looks upvoted from Hexbear.

  • I wouldn't want a new project to be run that way, but contributing to older existing projects really isn't that bad.

  • Especially since HomeAssistant is written in Python and is generally installed in VM or container (no "curl | sudo sh"ing)

  • There are a number of companies that would be affected by the license change, and they are the largest driving force behind the fork. Hashicorp's managed option just really sucks. There might be fragmentation, but I expect most people to switch to the project with more engineers, Linux foundation backing, and an actually open source license.

  • It's pretty good and I use it a fair amount. Sometimes messages don't order correctly when they are sent and your client is off, so be sure to reply to the messages you are talking about so the order is clear. I prefer Briar, but it doesn't work for some people due to a lack of iPhone app.

  • Personally it's between SimpleX and Briar, but SimpleX having an iPhone app so people I know can use it makes it win out.
