  • I argue this as well. I think things turning gender-neutral is more progressive than them being cut, unless I'm missing something. I got kicked out of a progressive community (that I really wanted to stay in) partially because they disagreed with me on that opinion (along with the word "dude" as an interjection) and wanted everyone in lock-step. I will never forgive them.

I also think "guys" and "dude" have a level of informality and nuanced humor that doesn't have an easy substitute.

  • Holy shit, thank you for bringing this one up. I'm not OCD, but I care a lot about mental health and neurodiversity (two things I deal with a lot). I sometimes rant about the misuse of "OCD" at random. And people still misuse it a lot.

  • I was raised Baptist, with all the shitty bells and whistles. I'm now an agnostic theist. Part of me is still fond of Christianity, but definitely not the more eyebrow-raising stuff nor the church.

I am proud of my new theistic beliefs now, as they remain rational and embrace how little we really can know. And now I validate atheism as rational and normal too. At least in principle— some atheists can be as cultish and angry as some Christians or some vegans or any other community that focuses on world-scale beliefs and issues. But I digress.

Congrats on getting away from extremists and forming your own beliefs, fam.

  • Imperial sucks, and metric is better, but still +1 for dozenal. Anybody who isn't for it is either confused about the very concept of different bases (I've talked to plenty of those), or biased.

I don't know why you dozenal advocates are being downvoted.

  • All the characters in my novel are supposed to have very accurate body and face curves, and accurate feature proportions and shapes. It's almost like anti-stylization in that area. In my head I don't see a lot of fine detail; but the accurate curves and shapes help give the idea that the work is more adult and sophisticated; while the flatter semi-watercolored colors I see in my head really help with the science fantasy look and with the moodiness the work often has. Eventually I'll get the professional artist who will capture this!

  • Four people suggested this was AI-made, and I'm gonna be honest that it's frustrating (not that I'm mad at you). I like to keep all stages of commissions; and so I have all dozen or so stages, plus the redline-work I did and sent back to them to help them understand what I was going for.

The art style in this pic isn't how I see Solemn in my head; but it gets the broad strokes down, and I find that it looks more like Solemn to me the more I look at it. I do wish it were more accurate to real body and feature shapes and proportions, but there's only so many edits I can request before it starts being rude/frustrating.

I paid this person $60 for their work, on Fiverr. They have a nice (and consistent) portfolio, and I told them they could put this pic up on it too!

  • I miss fish nuggets. There was a neat French-owned restaurant in my childhood that had them on the kids' menu. Shaped as fish and clams. "Sea Wonders", they called that order.
