I will claim that an orang-utan is often mistaken to be an orangutan, but is in fact a cousin of Gorilla gorilla called Gorilla otang-utan.

That's because I have found that I was wrong, there is a character limit, orangutan is a long word, and I'm a retconning wanker.

I'm not sure if you mean for me to take that personally. But I did take that personally. I laughed anyway, totally agree.

I'm happy to hang out in the "no, you won't" camp with. But the support the idea of a Texit lately is markedly ramped up. (The idea was never without support.) Part of me kinda suspects that some of the "think tank" minds are worried about losing Texas in the general mostly due to the overturning Roe still hanging over their heads.

If Texas is purple while CA is solid blue, then everyone will hate the Electoral College. The "think tank" conservatives can't have that.

So I agree, secession is unlikely, but IMO that's because it isn't a ballot initiative like Brexit. Not because the people saying it aren't serious.

I'm a bit worried that the plan for the secessionists is to do something so spectacular (literally) as to try to cause there to be good reason to "pause to election".

Just so then, they can prove Biden to be a dictator, and actually have an argument. Pausing an election would be truly unsettling.

So if there is a crisis about Electoral College stating of states close to November, that's a powder-keg situation.

That wasn't sexual assault. If you want a lesson to take away for what he actually did wrong here: he attacked the reason for rejection. It's a natural thing to do. But that's really the only thing wrong here.

Actually that's a great place for some "I want to help but I don't know computers" people to jump in.

That makes total sense. I was on my way to mechanical engineering when I was learning autocad and autodesk mechanical desktop if you remember that. Now it's just in autocad. (I guess that's an example of how things used to unshittify. I bet adobe would bring back MD as a separate product nowadays.)

So if you try to enter woodworking after that experience, it feels right to model projects like that. I had learned a lot of coding by this point. So adding the code into parts for flexibility felt great.

This is going to sound complicated. That's because I bet you can do this with one click. But I thought it was cool I model a compound mitre angle for a cut using numbers I calc'd on Octave (matlab-like foss). Since I'm just a tinkerer, I could only imagine how powerful that could be for pros. Lots of "where was this when I needed it" thoughts.

I tried qcad around 2010 or so and found the UI horrible compared to autocad that I was used to. At this point in my life, drafting was pretty useless. So I had no reason to have cad unless it was free.

I found OpenScad in Y2020 and was amazed at how far it had come. It felt much more like the commercial stuff, at least to me, who was behind the times anyway.
