  • PS4 Pro can play blu-ray and DVD but not 4K UHD Blu-ray nor CD. That said, I have a PS4 Pro and the disk never worked for me for movies. I didn’t even buy disc games because I assumed it wouldn’t work. I think the physical disc drives were really poor quality in the entire PS4 generation. I’ve got a PS3 slim and a PS5 we use for movies now. Good point about disc prices. Even UHD is cheap and often includes HD Blu-ray and a digital code.

  • From the article: About 75% of the file is normal but the rest is a barrage of unsubtle, offensive sentences relating to politics, sexuality, and current events. The text is crude, provocative, and highly inflammatory – we’re not talking nuanced, fringe political opinions here.

  • Network effect. It’s easier to convince the one green text to switch than to convince everyone to switch to an alternative. Even in my one immediate family we only have one Android. As a result we have two group threads, one of which excludes that number so images and videos will go through at full quality. Message is the default so people use it. I’m aware that’s not the case in other countries.

  • Taking an after hours $15/hour job to learn the business means he was checking the place out without committing to leave his day job. Some companies won’t allow interns to work for free either. They had $150,000 in sales the first year which means it was probably a startup. I won’t comment on the rest of your point but a guy that had a PHD by 1984 buying a business in 1991 doesn’t seem weird to me.

  • The business of the newspaper is to publish news. The problem is that XTwitter is not a news publishing platform and their recent changes make it almost impossible to figure out what is real or not. So many posts are made to look like news releases but there is not one bit of parody in them. If someone wants to have their own private account, fine, but their official work ought to not be interfered with by trolls and people with a malicious agenda.

  • I’m fairly certain that Apple’s dongles connect an ADC monitor to a DVI video card. The Belkin connector does the opposite. I’m not positive Apple didn’t make a similar Adapter but i know I paid more like $30 for the Belkin adapter I bought for a PowerMac G4 tower.

  • I cannot understand why news organizations and large companies wouldn’t want to run official communication through Mastodon. I understand the network effect but allowing your employees to create a Twitter account is a bit like letting them officially do business with their personal AOL email account. I don’t think Mastodon is even close to perfect but it gives the publisher a huge amount of control.

  • For the most part I agree with you but generally want controls remapped to match current conventions. A lot of PS2 games are hard to play because they were making button layouts up as they went and it interferes with my muscle memory!

  • My understanding is that the result of the LinkedIn case is that you can scrape data that you have permission to view but not to access data that you were not intended to. The end result that ClickWrap agreements are unenforceable.
