I bought a google account for less than $1, used it to log in to pipepipe and nothing else. Then I only use pipepipe when all else fails.
I haven't found any other way, even an unreliable one.
I also found myself not wanting to click youtube links because there's a good chance I'll spend the next 5 minutes switching apps and vpns and whatnot to make it work.

Also at some point i discovered nothing at all works because homeassistant decided to give my network a new identity so I needed to pair everything again. My fault for not having this backed up, but it's not something that should happen in a system that's "worry free".
There are so many cameras on the market, just don't connect them to the internet. If you have a budget, buy an NVR, otherwise install Motion or Frigate on a PC to store footage.
The main Mastodon instance with their official app has discoverability. The difference is so much different from what I normally use - a 3rd party app and a 3rd party instance
Facebook has shut down my pseudonymous account because i did not provide a photo of my ID. Try it, you should meet more like-minded people there than on Lemmy
I used to have a burner account and a program that logged in to FB with Selenium and converted certain "pages" into RSS feeds. It worked great when it did, but Facebook has a lot of measures against scraping, and I burned out trying to maintain this.
I don't know a way to read their content without an account, which excludes me from a lot of local events.
The next step is Anydesk and losing his life's savings
