  • Britain’s a bit different, as it’s caught in a perfect storm. It got a large amount of its energy from Russia, and the invasion hit just as Britain was also pouring massive investment into renewables and nuclear, which has to be paid for via energy bills. Add onto that the £40bn annual loss to the economy from Brexit and yeah, prices aren’t going down any time soon, but it isn’t necessarily because of profiteering. For example, rail freight operators have mothballed their electric fleet because the tariff per mile is so much higher than diesel at the moment. And they’re a business sector who can readily change from electricity.

  • EBU membership is open to broadcasters in the ITU Europe region, which is based on telecom infrastructure (particularly the telegraph cables of the British Empire) rather than geography or politics. As such Europe is the continent + North Africa + the Levant.

  • I said nothing about the US. You’re going off half-cocked there. The question was why bands in such a situation simply wouldn’t stay in Europe after their tour.

You’re acting like that American cop who heard an acorn falling on his car and just started blasting.

  • Biden was a bit of a walking disaster on the international stage, very gaffe prone. Obama bugged Merkel and got caught, and spent much of his time crashing Pakistani weddings with missiles so he wasn’t exactly Mr Popularity either.

It was a low bar, and Trump managed to get stuck under even that.
