  • Next you're going to say something silly like "fascism, greed, ethnic nationalism, and religious extremism are the problems -- and they can happily thrive in every major culture on the planet."

Get out of here with that nonsense! You have to pick a side!

  • Feh.

The only flatpacks I trust are made in Sweden.

  • No, it's because I find the idea and the importance attached to it idiotic.

Having said that, I also believe it doesn't automatically mean a breed is inbred and/or has health problems.

  • It's the size of the population and the competence/goals of the breeders. Breeders chasing exaggerated traits at the expense of the animal's health are the major problem.

There are "pure" breeds of every domestic animal that are healthy -- provided it's a line not perpetuated by selfish idiots. Domestic shorthair cats, various working breeds of dogs, horses, etc.

  • I've experienced this issue firsthand, although it's more like 3 to 4 seconds. Changing the user agent to Chrome causes videos to load instantly, and restoring it to the original user agent causes the "lag".

Some possibly relevant information: I'm running Firefox with unlock Origin on Linux Mint. I've also received the "playback will be disabled after 3 videos" message in the past -- so it's possibly only affecting users they strongly suspect are still using ad-blockers with workarounds.

  • "It'll be better under Trump!"

... I'm seriously starting to think some of these lemmy.ml and hexbear "communist" are MAGAts cosplaying Marxists.

  • Good news: it's "microplastics" and it already is!

  • There was a brief moment in the 2000s where major manufacturers were selling computers with Linux preinstalled. A lot of netbooks and thin clients had Ubuntu as an option.

  • Apart from piracy still being in a thing, there are many states that will illegally seize and impound other nations' vessels if given the chance.

  • I've responded to a bunch of "car vs pedestrian" calls. With adults a low speed hit is usually some minor injuries like lower legs, arms, etc. If they're hit hard sometimes their head hits the windshield. The victim ends up on top of the hood and rolls off the side or up and over the car.

If it's a truck their injuries are more serious. Hip, rib, shoulder/arm, spine, and head injuries. They get hit high and knocked into the ground -- and sometimes partially or completely run over.

  • I'm not saying this to encourage complacency -- too much is at risk. Everyone needs to go out and vote.

But on the other hand: look at how those polls are conducted. The vast majority are cold calls, and what are the demographics of "people who answer calls from unknown numbers in an era of rampant phone scams" these days?

  • Picking up trash with a net is a a little easier than collecting 1 trillion tonnes of CO2 from 5.1 quadrillion tonnes of atmosphere, then somehow storing it directly or converting it back into into stable solid or liquid for storage.

It's not impossible, but in terms of difficulty and expense the two are orders of magnitudes apart from each other. Like "inventing the wheel" vs "landing on the moon."

  • Like my distro?

So a tiara, duster jacket, kilt, one "stiletto pump" shoe, one wellington boot -- and a roll's worth of duck tape. Got it.

  • I'm getting to that age where there's shit that's weird and I "don't get it". My reaction to "Mx" is a resounding "... alright".

It doesn't effect, inconvenience, or cost me anything to say. I can think of no good reason not to address someone "Mx" if they ask me to.

  • Exactly, those titles have meaning that reflect "objective truths". E.g. I don't conform to society's male or female gender roles or expectations.

It's almost as if language exists to convey information and has been evolving with the constantly changing society that uses it.

... or was your comment an appeal to made-up semantics because you don't actually have a compelling argument?
