Whatsapp, Facebook Marketplace, and Instagram.
I've completely gone off Insta, I only really used it to see posts and reels my friends sent me.
I don't really know an alternative to WhatsApp and Marketplace that I can use. I'm very careful to not interact with any Facebook advertisements on Marketplace though.
I salivate at the thought of an efficient and effective transit system that I could use every day. I love driving, so I would still own a car. But to have the freedom to not have to drive everywhere would be amazing. I haven't had the opportunity to ride the Shinkansen yet, or visit Amsterdam and see Europe's transit myself, but I intend to visit more countries once I'm able to save up a little.
Riding on VIA is incredibly expensive, on occasion 3-4 times the price of a flight. Incredibly inconvenient, checked luggage and weighed carry-on and all that jazz, despite being a literal railway. Incredibly slow, it's faster to drive to Toronto from Vancouver. VIA is absolutely awful and I will never ride it again until it's fixed. On the other hand, AmTrak from Vancouver to Seattle is not awful. Both are miserable on a world stage but it's like putting the bottom two against each other.
Yet Israel is also committing a genocide at this current moment. Even more so since they've blocked humanitarian aid to Gaza. All 3 points you've stated are really basic freedoms that aren't really anything to celebrate or brag about in 2024. The post is about a state currently run by an extremist terrorist organisation that seized power. Comparing this to freedoms afforded by a democratically elected government in order to justify a defense of a genocide of people in a different country more than 3000 km away who happen to share a religion with the former state is honestly bizarre.
I respect your opinion but I'm surprised. Mostly because I found Into the Wild as a really beautiful visceral cinematic experience. It is my favourite movie of all time. I suppose it doesn't connect with everyone like it did for me.

As other commenters have said, this is just not how the system works. Something was misunderstood or some context was probably lost somewhere. I have driven a new-ish 2021 Model 3 as a daily, and there are basically 2 modes of auto driving. One is autopilot, which is very similar to adaptive cruise control with lane-keep assist in other cars. Then there's full self-driving, which is supposed to be you entering a destination and your car will take you there with minimal interference. You also need to pay out the wazoo for that FSD functionality. Tesla needs you to be vigilant in both cases, and you're responsible for a crash in both cases. Now onto the brakes, in either system, when you press the brakes, the car immediately applies brakes. On occasion, it's taken the automated driving system a second to shut off when I apply the brakes, but I have always felt the brakes immediately kick in. Teslas at the moment do not have brake-by-wire. They have throttle-by-wire (duh, EVs), and steer-by-wire on some of the more recent higher end models. All of them have a hydraulic braking system where your foot on the pedal is immediately converted to braking pressure. Your friend is mistaken, and the crash is their responsibility for not maintaining vigilance. Afaik, very few companies are at self-driving tier 3, which is where the company would be responsible for a crash. Tesla is not there yet.
"It's completely fine" by who? Most trans people do not want to be referred to by their deadname - especially in the way this title phrases it. Most people wouldn't know the deadname anyway, everyone just knew her from the "Leave Britney alone" video. To clarify, the title could easily have mentioned she's trans but to just throw out the deadname especially phrased in such a way is just ignorant and harmful, regardless of intent.
Well that was designed by one of the GOATs - Ferdinand Porsche
