And what this whole fiasco is proving is that Biden could have stopped it with a phone call but he didn't. And the polling after the fact shows that would be democratic voters stayed home because they were absolutely disgusted by their party preaching morality doing the right thing while perpetrating/enabling one of the most repugnant acts of slaughter against a trapped population. It all stopped with a phone call from Trump. Whether it was just a temporary pause for the inauguration or a pure attempt at culling the violence in the middle east (it doesn't matter). It just proved that the Democrats are absolutely full of shit and willing to spite their own constituency to keep oligarchy money flowing.
This, wedged between the US brand of isolationism of pulling out of climate accords, WHO, and the impending tarrifs are going to be much worse than anything brexit did. I think for people like me, the biggest fuck you was from Obama. He ran on hope and change. He ran on at least a public option. And he went into the office and literally shut down the ground operation that swept him into his position and then basically spent 8 years appeasing Republicans despite the fact that people wanted transformational change. That's why they picked him over Clinton. He delivered Romneycare, bank bailouts, and drone wars.
As someone that's spent over a decade working in US healthcare, I can easily say it's exhausting for everyone involved. It's busy work. Especially if you are not providing direct care. Everything else is extractive fluff that makes cost of care more expensive, burdensome, and just dumb. And now with VC companies wading into healthcare everything is becoming even more expensive, even more dumb, and greedy.
