I remember they said the same thing about Clinton and how she burned through a billion dollars in her attempt to buy a nomination. In the end, Harris brought in a bunch of Clinton leeches to destroy her own campaign. The consultant class ate well this election cycle and they didn’t even have to run a campaign nearly as long.

Using American healthcare leads people to hate American healthcare. The finger wagging about how great our care is just bringing more people to the realization that this is just a myth.

What's crazy is that Trump and vance could read the room and drastically change the US forever by using the hate that people have for insurance companies to dismantle their influence.

But instead these crooks are going to enrich themselves and leave office (maybe) dismantling and hurting the people that voted them into office. As bad as 2016-2020 was, I think it'll pale in comparison to how bad things will get. If you aren't putting money away towards your 401k, do it now. Because rebuilding healthcare, housing, education, and other crucial regulatory functions of the government is going to take a long time. Especially if we lose any liberal USSC judges. It will be harrowing for the poor and middle class. More so if you are a person of color, lgbtq, or any ethnic minority.

There's a cognitive dissonance on Lemmy. I keep seeing people post the electorate is stupid for electing trump or staying home while also seeing posts like this acknowledging that the democratic party isn't listening to the constituency. I realize it's likely very different audiences but this is very much a bubble among liberals which unfortunately make up a large part of the party voting base. They were fine with everything continuing to suck a tiny bit more because the alternative was Trump. I think people are just squeezed and exhausted. They're tired of being given the narrative that this is the election that will end all elections while things continue to get worse around the margins. And I think the people that would vote for systemic change don't see Democrats capable of delivering on anything substantive.

Note: This is not an endorsement of Trump or not voting at all as a result. But people really need to reckon with how broken shit is before blaming voters. Democrats have no incentives to fix anything.

JD Vance (and Peter Thiel, David Sacks, Elon Musk) is not a replacement I would welcome in the event of Trump no longer being able to be president.

Exactly this. Meanwhile food prices are high, homes and rents are unaffordable, and healthcare sucks, and tuition is through the roof. Biden sending billions to fund a genocide while all of this shit was happening at home was the demotivation people needed to stay home.
