  • the film doesn't explore it as well as the comics did, but the story is about scott being a shitty, under-developed 23 year old. he is confronted with his past and forced to reckon with how terribly he has treated the women in his life. scott is supposed to help ramona defeat her evil ex-boyfriends but is faced with that prospect that he could become one if he doesn't become a better person. i'd really recommend reading it as the film gives the wrong impression of the story

  • The more likely reason for blacklisting the developer is to cause a chilling effect on other developers. Apple has one of the best developer ecosystems and Meta is likely terrified of letting their developers anywhere near Apple. Having good apps is so important to a platform

  • ok i see and yeah i agree to an extent. i'm assuming you don't like the current state of twitter either? your initial comment was pretty ambiguous. unfortunately, i don't think you can have something similar and as popular as twitter without it turning into a mess. so yeah, bluesky will likely just be twitter again but that's what people seem to want. attempts to do something different just don't have any mainstream appeal.

  • I just want to add some additional context: Taiwan existed as a nation long before the RoC fled to the island and massacred the population (look up the White Terror). There continues to be quite a bit of tension between the original population and the RoC about the national identity. I wouldn't really call Taiwan the true China. My family is native Taiwanese and I know there is a lot of anger at how their government was taken over.

  • Yeah... I tried the htc vive back when it came out and the experience was incredible but ultimately there's not much it can do other than be a cool experience. Maybe vr will find its footing one day but it's a really hard thing to get right

  • I’ve always wondered if it would help to have to reply in order to give an up/downvote but I assume it would likely just result in more spam. Still, I hope people are thinking of new ways to try things

  • LOVE the new app icon! I guess I’m a minority that wasn’t a fan of the other one. The colours were just a tad too gaudy for me.

Also just generally loving all the new features and care being put into this app.

    A couple notes:

    1. If you use swipe actions too quickly then the arrows will start pointing in all sorts of directions (not import and only if you are messing around with it)
    2. The image viewer feels less responsive than the original one in earlier versions. I’m not familiar with this style and I guess I’m wondering what the goal is?
  • Actually I think it is quite a stretch to call them feminists in any way. 99% of the time they ally with the far right and many of their leaders advocate against things like contraception and healthcare for women
