  • Switch 2 Backward Compatibility Fees: Charging €10–20 to play old games on new hardware (with minor upgrades) is a consumer-hostile move. The €10 demo is purely a joke.

  • When I say they’re 'not good,' I mean they run slower. AMD and Intel GPUs perform nearly as well as they do on Windows, but Nvidia GPUs can suffer up to a 20% performance loss on Linux, depending on the game.

  • Nvidia GPUs are not good in Linux at the moment. And yeah all what you said. But i had tried Linux for gaming like something 5-8 years ago, and the situation is so much better now.

  • Nvidia user, i saw a 10-15% performance difference (maybe more in some games), some anti-cheat do not work, so i can not install these games. I used both Mint and Nobara with latest drivers running and proton-GE.

  • I'm in Windows 11. I have regret it, but after so many tweaks of the system, removing telemetries, changing menus, and other Windows shit, i had not the energy to move back to Windows 10.

Only OS change i am willing to make is to move to Linux, but gaming is not there yet, and am now trying to move from big proprietary companies to FOSS, so time is needed.

  • Nintendo 90€ games are for EU now. USA will get $100+ due to tariffs, or they gonna need to reduce prices to the rest of the world. I wanna see what these greedy SOB gonna do.

  • A bad move. But again i hate that many distros have a default browser and they don't let you choose.

  • I hope they release a Steam Deck 2. The current model isn’t on par with the next Nintendo Switch, and I consider it outdated. However, the Steam library is massive, so it’s still appealing.

  • They got rich because the Switch was something new, cheap, and the games had normalish pricing. Also corona played a big role, GPU market got pwned by mining back then, and many other reasons. I bought a Switch because i could not upgrade my GPU back in 2021 (1st console i bought after 15 years). It was a better value than other consoles and offered something the others had not.

  • Man the company had around $ 6 Billion profits in 2024. Profits, not revenue. The audacity to raise prices of games while they are more rich than ever.

  • I guess im gonna rename my Nintendo Switch Profile to Luffy 😂

  • The puzzle is complete now i guess. The witch hunting of all these years is explained. I also have a feeling that the CEO of Microsoft persuade them to go with this scheme, so Microsoft can follow (if i remember correctly, they had some meetings). Nintendo fans were always more acceptable to shit than Microsoft fans.

  • I somehow payed only 60€ for TOTK. The rest i could find them around 40€. 3rd party even lower. 1st party always physical, 3rd party only digital when big sales come in place (around 10-15€).

For console gaming it was not that bad. Not comparing to PC gaming or the prices that old games should have ofc (putting 70€ for BOTW on Switch 2 is a big joke).

  • AMD and Intel have almost the same performance on Linux. NVIDIA has not though. I had something 10-15% less fps with my RTX 3070, even with a gaming distro, latest NVIDIA drivers running and proton-GE.

  • Nah Steamdeck is a good Switch competitor but they gonna need a Steamdeck 2 to compete Switch 2. But with those absurd game prices steam will have a big advantage with less effort.

  • We will see. If they lose a big share of the Switch 1 owners without many new members buying the console, it is a loss for them.

  • The question is how many of the Switch 1 buyers are Nintendo fans. Many, like me, bought Switch entering for 1st time to the Nintendo, but i am not consider myself a loyal mindless fan. With kids and families is harder though.

I will just skip Switch 2 and just play only in my PC like i always had. If they release a good Steam Deck that it is worthy, i will consider it. If the market slaps them and they return to reality, i will consider Switch 2 for 2026.

  • They are not more greedy, but they think they got an opportunity now. Games industry is bigger than Film industry. They earn an amazing amount of money due to how many more are playing games now than in 2010 did. Revenue of 2024 was 10 times higher than of 2010....
